Description
Erie Evergreen is a character from the anime Please Put Them On, Takamine-san. She is a former elementary school classmate of the protagonist, Koushi Shirota, and the two reunite after a separation of about five years when they both begin attending the same cram school. Erie is of mixed ethnic heritage and has a striking appearance, characterized by her short, white or blonde hair. She works as a reader model for magazines, a career she pursues alongside her studies.

In terms of personality, Erie is presented as cheerful, innocent, and highly sociable. She treats Shirota with a familiar and warm demeanor, affectionately calling him by the nickname "Kou-chan," which they used during their childhood. A defining trait of her character is her complete lack of awareness of social and physical boundaries. She engages in physical contact that embarrasses Shirota, such as licking melted ice cream from his neck, and shows no discomfort with her body being exposed in front of him, reflecting that she views their friendship as transcending normal gender divides. This behavior, however, stems from a place of platonic familiarity rather than romantic intent. Erie does not harbor romantic feelings for Shirota; she has a girlfriend named Rurika Kurosaki, to whom she remains devoted. Her curiosity is sometimes piqued by another character's figure, but her romantic orientation is consistently directed towards her own girlfriend.

Erie’s primary role in the story is that of a catalyst who disrupts the dynamic between Koushi Shirota and the student council president, Takane Takamine. Her sudden reappearance in Shirota’s life and her physically intimate, boundary-less interactions with him provoke intense jealousy in Takamine. However, Erie is not a malicious rival. She is perceptive enough to recognize the underlying tension and often plays the role of an unsuspecting instigator, inviting herself into their study sessions and recalling shared childhood memories, such as playing together with water balloons and even sleeping over at each other's houses, which only deepens Takamine's possessiveness.

Despite her role as a source of romantic conflict, Erie ultimately serves to help the main pair confront their feelings. She provides counsel to Shirota, helping him to realize that his strong emotional reactions to Takamine are a sign of love. She also supports Takamine’s feelings and apologizes for making her uncomfortable, demonstrating a genuine and thoughtful side beneath her carefree exterior. In this way, she is a narrative tool for character development, pushing Shirota towards a clearer understanding of his own emotions. Her notable abilities are not supernatural but physical and social; she is athletic and confident in her sporting abilities, and her career as a model gives her a certain ease in her own skin.
