Wei Ping, known as Bi Hei, hails from Jouto Village in Qin. Childhood friends of Shin and Hyou, he and his younger brother Bi Tou first encountered Shin by picking a fight, only to be knocked out by a single punch each. This earned them the nickname "thug brothers" from Shin, though a close friendship eventually formed.
Before military service, Bi Hei worked the land as a farmer. He is married to Tou Bi, a relationship established prior to enlistment. His family includes his parents and brother Bi Tou.
Conscripted into the Qin army alongside Bi Tou, Bi Hei reunited with Shin during the Keiyou Campaign against Wei. Assigned to Shin's squad under Corporal Taku Kei, his first battle at Dakan Plains revealed intense cowardice. Overwhelmed by fear amidst the chaos and carnage, he struggled to function. Yet, he managed to protect Bi Tou from a Wei soldier, marking his first combat action.
After Keiyou, both brothers joined Shin's newly formed Hi Shin Unit. Bi Hei rose to the rank of 100-man commander. Combat gradually hardened him, though anxiety and self-doubt lingered. At the Battle of Bayou against Zhao, he showed increased reliability. When Shin suffered grievous wounds fighting Hou Ken, Bi Hei and Bi Tou carried him to safety. Bi Hei then volunteered as a decoy to divert enemy forces, allowing Bi Tou to protect Shin, demonstrating his growing sense of duty and willingness to sacrifice.
Bi Tou's death from blood loss during the Bayou retreat, after ensuring Shin's safety, devastated Bi Hei. As the sole surviving brother, this loss deepened his commitment to the Hi Shin Unit, strengthening his resolve to honor his brother through continued service.
Advancing to 300-man commander, Bi Hei led his own unit within the Hi Shin Army, relying on practical battlefield experience over formal training. He fought in major campaigns like the Sanyou Campaign against Wei and the Coalition Invasion, defending positions like Kankoku Pass, solidifying his reputation as a dependable veteran.
Bi Hei exhibits a dichotomy: frequent exaggeration of accomplishments and displays of bravado mask underlying insecurities. His core motivations are survival and protecting comrades, not personal glory. Despite initial cowardice, constant warfare forged steadfast loyalty to Shin and the Hi Shin Unit, central to his identity especially after Bi Tou's death. His relationship with Shin evolved from childhood friction to deep mutual respect, forged through shared battles and loss.
Physically, Bi Hei possesses distinctive buck teeth, dark brown hair, and a small goatee, bearing a strong resemblance to his father in youth. He wears standard Qin infantry armor and wields a spear.
