Description
Casey Grove is a second-year student at Serendia Academy and hails from the Bright Count family, a noble house whose lands are situated along the eastern border of the kingdom. As her family is considered part of the country nobility, she has a more grounded upbringing compared to aristocrats from the central court.

In terms of personality, Casey is generally known for her lively, carefree, and kind nature. She is active and energetic, with notable skills in horseback riding and hunting, and is not afraid to get her hands dirty by assisting with practical tasks such as the shipment of livestock around her home. She also possesses a softer, domestic side, as she is skilled at embroidery, creating works impressive enough to be displayed and sold at charity bazaars. Despite this cheerful exterior, she carries a heavy burden, driven by a deep-seated distrust of the central government. This belief stems from the state's failure to protect its citizens, including her family's lands, from threats such as dragon attacks. The kingdom's military aid often arrived late, while the cost of hiring mercenaries strained her community's finances, compelling her to take drastic action to protect her own people.

Casey's primary motivation is to save her family and her homeland. After her brothers died, the pressure to help her family grew significantly. Her father tasked her with a secret mission regarding the kingdom's prince, Felix Arc Ridill. The objective was either to seduce the prince or kill him, as her family feared his rise to power would lead to a puppet monarchy and a devastating war with a neighboring nation that had previously provided them aid.

Her role in the story is that of a complex antagonist turned sympathetic figure. She is one of the very few characters at Serendia Academy who is aware of protagonist Monica Norton's true identity as the incredibly powerful but socially anxious "Silent Witch." Initially, she befriends Monica, encouraging her to try new activities. However, she is later revealed to be the mastermind behind an assassination attempt on the prince, using a conjuring device during a tea party she hosted. Following her failed attempt, she is removed from the academy to be sent to a monastery, which saves her from immediate execution.

Casey shares a significant relationship with the protagonist, Monica Norton. She is consistently looking out for Monica, helping her learn new things like horse riding and pushing her out of her comfort zone in a friendly manner. Monica considers Casey a genuine friend, and the betrayal of the assassination plot leaves Monica grappling with complex feelings of loss and regret. In her final moments at the academy, Casey tries to goad Monica into replacing sadness with hate or apathy to make her exile easier on her friend, an act that demonstrates her deep, albeit conflicted, care for Monica.

Throughout her development, Casey starts as a seemingly carefree country noble but is gradually revealed to be a young woman burdened by political pressure and a fierce desire to protect her people from what she sees as a corrupt and useless central government. She willingly sacrifices her own future, plotting a dangerous scheme that leads to her exile, in a desperate attempt to prevent a war. She does not regret her attempt to kill the prince, recognizing it as a necessary act for her nation's survival, but she does regret the pain and confusion it causes her friend Monica.

Notable abilities include her high level of proficiency in horseback riding and hunting, showcasing her physical and outdoorsy nature. She is also adept in domestic arts, specifically embroidery. While not possessing overt magical abilities herself, she is cunning enough to orchestrate a complex political assassination plot and secure magical artifacts, such as a Conch Flame conjuring device, to carry out her plans.
