Description
Kikoru Shinomiya is a central figure in the Defense Force, recognized as a prodigy of exceptional talent at only sixteen years of age. She is the daughter of Isao Shinomiya, the Director General of the Defense Force, and the late Hikari Shinomiya, a former Captain of the Second Division. Her upbringing was steeped in the legacy of powerful kaiju combatants, and she was shaped by a family tragedy when her mother lost her life in the line of duty a decade ago. Driven by this loss, Kikoru dedicated herself to becoming the strongest, graduating as the valedictorian from the California Monster-Slaying University, the youngest person ever to do so.
On the surface, Kikoru presents herself as arrogant and prideful, often looking down on those she considers inferior and making blunt, critical remarks about their abilities. Her confidence is not without foundation, as her skills and academic record are unparalleled for a rookie. Despite her abrasive demeanor, Kikoru possesses a strong sense of responsibility and genuinely cares for her comrades. She declares that no one is allowed to die on her battlefield and acts decisively to protect her allies, showing a loyalty that runs deeper than her pride. Her primary motivation evolves from living up to her parents' legacy to a more personal resolve. She seeks to honor her mother’s memory by becoming strong enough to prevent any further casualties. Later, the death of her father at the hands of Kaiju No. 9 transforms her desire for strength into a burning need for revenge, vowing not to mourn him until she has destroyed the kaiju that killed him.

With this weapon, she faces and defeats a powerful Identified Kaiju, No. 15, achieving release rates of up to 94% and solidifying her status as one of the strongest combatants in the Defense Force. Her arsenal also includes a custom-made giant battle axe, the AX-0112, which she wields with mastered techniques like "Falling Thunder" and "Twin Swallows".
