TV-Series
Description
Albert de Saloum is the second prince of the Saloum Kingdom and the older brother of the seventh prince, Lloyd de Saloum, making him a recurring character in the series. As a member of the royal family, he holds the position of heir to the throne and is responsible for a significant portion of the kingdom's governmental and diplomatic tasks. Physically, Albert is a young man with blond hair and blue eyes, often seen in a white outfit complemented by a red vest, and his appearance bears a strong resemblance to his younger brother, Lloyd.

In terms of personality, Albert is portrayed as a proud yet gentle and experienced individual. He is known for his warm and kind-hearted nature, remaining calm and thoughtful while caring deeply for others. As a prince, he is described as an ideal royal figure who balances both literary and military arts, earning him high trust from both the citizens and the royal court. Despite being a talented elite who often finds himself at the center of attention, he lacks arrogance and treats his subordinates with care. However, when the situation calls for it, particularly in politics or when his family is threatened, he can be absolutely ruthless and tends to resort to force without hesitation.

Albert's primary motivation stems from his role as the acting administrator of the kingdom. While he accepts the responsibility of being the heir and manages affairs diligently, he lacks excessive ambition for power and views the throne as a duty rather than a prize. His most defining motivation, however, is his deep care for his brother Lloyd. He recognized Lloyd's extraordinary magical talent early on when others overlooked it and consistently views him as a valuable potential ally for the future. This brotherly affection is so pronounced that he is considered an extreme brocon, reacting violently to any perceived threat against Lloyd. He quietly supports Lloyd and expects great things from him, believing that Lloyd could be a future king despite the seventh prince having no interest in the position.

Within the story, Albert plays a crucial supporting role. He is often the one who facilitates Lloyd's activities, such as providing large amounts of weapons for magical experiments. He participates in key events, including hunting expeditions for magical beasts and battles against powerful monsters like the SS-class Pazuzu, where he demonstrates his formidable combat skills. When the Assassin's Guild becomes involved, Albert leads the Saloum forces and shows a strategic mind, even managing to persuade the guild members to cooperate by appealing to their shared concern for Lloyd. He also handles the political aftermath of conflicts, such as constructing graves for the fallen and dealing with the implications of church attacks by mysterious brides.

Key relationships define Albert's character significantly. His relationship with Lloyd is the most important, characterized by mutual respect and deep trust. Albert is one of the few siblings who does not fear or resent Lloyd's overwhelming power but instead seeks to understand it. He also shares a productive relationship with his other brother, the fourth prince Diane, who is a blacksmith; Albert recognizes the perfect combination of Lloyd's magic and Diane's swords. As the second prince, he assists his father, King Charles, at the closest level and maintains good relations with his subordinates and various political parties within the kingdom.

Throughout the series, Albert undergoes subtle but noticeable development. Initially presented as a purely elite and capable prince, his experiences fighting alongside Lloyd and the Assassin's Guild reveal his vulnerabilities and his burden of leadership. During the battle against the Pazuzu, he is incapacitated by poison, showing that even he has limits. Later, after the conflict with the Assassin's Guild, he demonstrates emotional growth by expressing pride in Lloyd while also sternly teaching him about responsibility and the consequences of one's actions as a prince, showing that his care for Lloyd includes tough lessons about duty. He also shows an ability to listen to advice, as seen when he thanks the assassin Babylon for guidance.

Albert's abilities are notable for their balance and hidden depth. Although he focuses most of his time on politics and diplomacy, he remains a prodigious fighter. His talent is such that he can learn how to cast spells and use sword techniques simply by witnessing them, allowing him to master the House of Langlis Style Swordsmanship and advanced magic despite having no time for formal training. One of his most remarkable spells is the high-tier fire spell Scorching Flame Fang, which allows him to call down meteorites. He is also capable of entering a state known as the Mana Crown, where an excess of strengthening spells creates a crown of black mana leaking from his head, granting a temporary burst of inhuman strength. While this state normally destroys the user's body, Albert's prodigious nature allows him to use it simply to achieve his body's full potential with reduced backlash. His swordsmanship is powerful enough to momentarily surprise an SS-class monster much stronger than typical SS-class creatures. In essence, Albert is a character who combines royal duty with hidden combat genius, all while maintaining a gentle facade for his beloved younger brother.
