Mou Bu hails from Qi, where his father Mou Gou faced repeated military failures against the Zhao commander Ren Pa, prompting the family's relocation to Qin. There, Mou Gou founded the Mou Family and rose within the Qin military. In his youth, Mou Bu formed a deep bond and sworn brotherhood with Shou Hei Kun, a former prince of Chu. Both later became key figures among Chancellor Ryo Fui's Four Pillars. Physically imposing and exceptionally tall, Mou Bu sports spiked dark brown hair, a short goatee, and an intense presence. He typically dons golden armor and a green cape in battle. Early in his career, he displayed arrogance and a hot temper, openly dismissing revered figures like Great General Ou Ki as relics. He firmly believed himself China's strongest warrior and actively sought the revival of the Six Great Generals system with himself as a leading member. His combat style emphasized overwhelming offensive power, favoring cavalry charges and direct confrontation, wielding a war mace. As Vice General under Ou Ki at the Battle of Bayou, he led the vanguard and center. Initial successes against commanders like Ri Haku were undermined by tactical overreach; disregarding warnings of enemy traps, he pursued Hou Ken deep into enemy territory, suffering heavy losses. Witnessing Ou Ki's sacrifice and prowess profoundly impacted him, leading to an acknowledgment of his recklessness and newfound respect for the late general. Ou Ki's death spurred significant growth in Mou Bu. His overt arrogance tempered into a more focused, formidable presence. Shou Hei Kun noted that while Mou Bu's sharp edges settled, a fierce fighting spirit intensified, cementing his status as Qin's most terrifying general. He developed a pragmatic, if reluctant, willingness to employ strategy, recognizing brute force's limitations. This evolution showed during the Coalition Invasion, where he demonstrated greater tactical awareness and cooperation, treating commanders like Tou as equals. Mou Bu married and fathered two sons: Mou Ten, his eldest, entrusted to family vassal Ko Zen, and Mou Ki, his youngest. His military achievements culminated in his appointment as one of Qin's second-generation Six Great Generals, assuming a leadership role. He commands the formidable Mou Bu Army, primarily stationed on the Qin-Chu border.
