Description
Kakucho is a character introduced during the Tenjiku arc who continues to play a significant role in the subsequent War of the Three Titans arc. He is a young man of medium height with black hair, typically kept in a buzz cut, and red eyes. A prominent scar runs from the back of his skull across his left eye, which is blind and appears whitish, and ends at the start of his left ear. He also wears a long earring on his right ear. His appearance changes slightly in different timelines, but his scarred face and loyal demeanor remain his most defining traits.

Kakucho's background is defined by tragedy. He lost both his parents in a car accident when he was in the third grade, an event that also caused the prominent scar across his forehead and eye. After this, he was sent to an orphanage. It was there that he met Izana Kurokawa. In a pivotal moment, Izana destroyed a makeshift grave Kakucho had built for his parents, telling him to forget the dead and instead dedicate his life as a servant to his "king." This encounter gave Kakucho a new, albeit dark, purpose. Before the accident, he was a childhood friend of the protagonist, Takemichi Hanagaki, who once promised to fight for him. Because of this, Takemichi remained his "childhood hero" in his memories.

Personality-wise, Kakucho is extremely reserved and closed off, a direct result of his tragic upbringing as an orphan. He has immense difficulty trusting others. His entire sense of self and purpose is rooted in his unwavering, absolute loyalty to Izana Kurokawa, whom he sees as his master. This devotion overrides all other personal connections. He is not inherently cruel or sadistic; in fact, he often disagrees with the more underhanded plans of his allies, such as murder or using weapons in a fair fight. Despite his personal misgivings, his loyalty to Izana compels him to carry out any order without hesitation, even if it means killing his childhood friend, Takemichi.

In the story, Kakucho serves as the leader of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Tenjiku gang and acts as Izana's formidable right-hand man. He is a major antagonist during the Tenjiku conflict, where he confronts Takemichi and the Tokyo Manji Gang. His primary motivation is to see Izana's dream of building a "kingdom" called Tenjiku come to fruition. Later, during the War of the Three Titans arc, after Tenjiku's fall, he becomes the number one seat of Rokuhara Tandai, one of the three major gangs vying for control of the Kanto region. In this capacity, he shows respect for Takemichi's strength and determination, even attempting to recruit him.

Key relationships define his entire character arc. His relationship with Izana Kurokawa is the most important, one of complete master-servant devotion, though Izana ultimately sees them as brothers. Izana's eventual death has a profound impact on Kakucho, leaving him with immense guilt for surviving. His relationship with Takemichi Hanagaki is complex, rooted in a shared past. While Kakucho sets aside their friendship to serve Izana, he never forgets that Takemichi was once his hero. He later comes to deeply respect Takemichi's unyielding spirit.

Throughout the series, Kakucho shows a degree of development. While he begins as a loyal subordinate who has surrendered his will to a "king," he eventually takes on more leadership roles, becoming a top executive in future organizations like Bonten and a leader in Rokuhara Tandai. He begins to act more on his own convictions, trying to save Izana from Kisaki's influence and later fighting for his own place in the new era Izana entrusted to him before dying.

As a fighter, Kakucho is considered one of the strongest characters in the series. He was hailed as Tenjiku's strongest member and is consistently given high-ranking positions in every gang he joins due to his immense power and influence. His fighting style is direct and devastating, relying on his superhuman physical strength. He is capable of defeating multiple high-ranking officers simultaneously and sending powerful opponents flying with a single punch. His signature technique is a full-swing hook punch delivered from an invisible position. He possesses incredible speed and stamina, able to continue fighting even after sustaining severe injuries like a gunshot or a sword wound.
