Description
Kakucho is a character introduced during the Tenjiku arc who continues to play a significant role in the subsequent War of the Three Titans arc. He is a young man of medium height with black hair, typically kept in a buzz cut, and red eyes. A prominent scar runs from the back of his skull across his left eye, which is blind and appears whitish, and ends at the start of his left ear. He also wears a long earring on his right ear. His appearance changes slightly in different timelines, but his scarred face and loyal demeanor remain his most defining traits.
Kakucho's background is defined by tragedy. He lost both his parents in a car accident when he was in the third grade, an event that also caused the prominent scar across his forehead and eye. After this, he was sent to an orphanage. It was there that he met Izana Kurokawa. In a pivotal moment, Izana destroyed a makeshift grave Kakucho had built for his parents, telling him to forget the dead and instead dedicate his life as a servant to his "king." This encounter gave Kakucho a new, albeit dark, purpose. Before the accident, he was a childhood friend of the protagonist, Takemichi Hanagaki, who once promised to fight for him. Because of this, Takemichi remained his "childhood hero" in his memories.
Personality-wise, Kakucho is extremely reserved and closed off, a direct result of his tragic upbringing as an orphan. He has immense difficulty trusting others. His entire sense of self and purpose is rooted in his unwavering, absolute loyalty to Izana Kurokawa, whom he sees as his master. This devotion overrides all other personal connections. He is not inherently cruel or sadistic; in fact, he often disagrees with the more underhanded plans of his allies, such as murder or using weapons in a fair fight.
