Description
Isla, known as the Queen of Bugs, is a Hero unit belonging to the civilization of Mynoghra. Her origins lie in the game Eternal Nations, where she served as both a Hero unit and a selectable commander for the Mynoghra faction. As a result, she possesses memories of her time working alongside the protagonist, Takuto Ira, within the game world, making her aware of his true nature and capabilities from the moment she is summoned into the new reality.
In terms of appearance, Isla is a colossal insect, roughly the size of a building. Her form resembles that of a mantispidae, complete with six compound eyes, two large tusks, and a muddy green body. She has a torso similar to that of a woman, and her wings glisten with a rainbow of colors.
Despite her terrifying and monstrous appearance, Isla’s personality is strikingly warm and benevolent. She is defined by the natural charisma of a queen, excelling at managing large groups and grasping the hearts of those around her. She is portrayed as a kind, reliable, and deeply caring being who treats all members of Mynoghra as her family. Her demeanor is overwhelmingly maternal, earning her the reverent title of Mother of Mynoghra. She is often seen dispensing gentle scoldings to those who overindulge, offering counsel to anyone in need, and providing comfort through simple gestures like head pats. This gentle nature extends to her "children," the insectoid Larva she produces, whom she treats with genuine affection.
Isla’s motivations are rooted in profound admiration and absolute devotion to her ruler, Takuto Ira. She reveres him not merely as a superior but as an extraordinary individual, possessing an unshakable optimism and a deep-seated instinct that everything will work out under his leadership. Her primary drive is to serve him and protect the nation of Mynoghra, acting as a stabilizing force within the civilization. Her role in the story is that of a powerful guardian and a maternal figure. She functions as the nation's second Hero unit and serves as a defensive bulwark. Her presence provides emotional support for the other characters, offering a sense of security and familial warmth. Strategically, she is a formidable combat asset, often taking to the field to eliminate threats to the kingdom.
Her key relationships are central to her character. With Takuto, her bond is one of unwavering loyalty and deep gratitude, cherishing their continued partnership. With the Hero Atou, Isla shares a close camaraderie and often teases her, particularly regarding Atou’s doting behavior toward Takuto. Her most poignant relationship is with the twin siblings, Maria and Caria Elfuur. Isla loves them as if they were her own daughters, and they reciprocate this love, making her feel like a true mother. This bond is so strong that it becomes a critical story element when she sacrifices herself, feeding her heart to the twins to pass on her powers.
Isla possesses a suite of notable abilities that make her an unstoppable force. Her primary skill is Breeder, which grants her the power to produce an infinite number of combat and labor units called Larva. While these Larva are individually weak and cannot level up, they can be produced in massive swarms to overrun enemies or perform manual labor, significantly boosting the empire's productivity. Another powerful ability is Predation, which restores a portion of her health whenever she defeats an enemy. Her attacks also have a chance to inflict Parasitic Eggs on enemies, a debilitating condition that renders the target inoperable until baby insects hatch from them. Furthermore, she possesses a trait that globally increases the strength of all bug units and automatically brings any bug unit she encounters under Mynoghra's control. A particularly tragic ability is Demise of the Crown; if Isla is defeated, she grants the Hero skill to other units of her nation, and they inherit a portion of her combat capabilities. This ability is what allows her to empower the twins Maria and Caria after her death.
Throughout the story, Isla shows significant development from a summoned unit to a beloved matriarch whose influence shapes the nation. She is first summoned as a much-needed stabilizing and maternal presence. In combat, she demonstrates cunning and power, such as when she is given magical resources by Takuto to acquire new skills and faces down one of the Demon Lord's Four Generals, Flamin, along with his entire army. Her most dramatic development is her tragic demise. After being killed by General Flamin using a cutscene ability, she makes the ultimate sacrifice, feeding her heart to the twin sisters Maria and Caria. This act passes her powers on to them, causing the twins to mentally break and awaken to their own formidable abilities. Her death serves as a major catalyst for the story, deepening the emotional stakes and setting new goals for Mynoghra.
