Kan Mei, known also as Han Ming, held the rank of Great General in Chu's military, serving as the second highest commander under Kou En. His immense stature earned him the title "Giant of Chu," making him one of the tallest characters, surpassing even Ordo and Mou Bu. His distinctive appearance featured a horn-like haircut with a shoulder-length ponytail, a short goatee, and heavily scarred forearms. His voice carried powerfully over great distances. Rising swiftly through Chu's ranks due to extraordinary strength and combat skill, Kan Mei achieved early fame as a young general under Kou En by confronting Ou Kotsu, one of Qin's Six Great Generals famed for brute force. He inflicted a serious wound on Ou Kotsu with a single sword strike, forcing the Qin general's retreat. This victory cemented his reputation and led him to declare himself the "strongest man in China." His first major campaign targeted Qi, where he rampaged across multiple front lines, capturing roughly 100 cities without a single defeat throughout his long career. His conquests focused on Chu's borders with Qi, Zhao, Wei, and Han, though decades without direct conflict with Qin meant his name remained less known in distant states like Yan and Qin. Commanding Chu's forces during the Coalition Invasion against Qin, Kan Mei served as the Coalition Army's central figurehead. At the Battle of Kankoku Pass, his army faced Qin general Mou Bu. Kan Mei initially countered Mou Bu's Echelon Formation by reinforcing his formation's edges, but this inadvertently weakened the center. Mou Bu exploited this, breaching the Chu lines to engage Kan Mei directly. In the ensuing duel, Kan Mei demonstrated combat superiority, overwhelming Mou Bu with his physical might and mastery of a war mace – a weapon he reserved for worthy opponents. He voiced his boredom from a lack of equals but stressed his unwavering duty as a symbol of Chu's military supremacy. Kan Mei brought Mou Bu to the brink of death. However, Mou Bu rallied through sheer will, breaking Kan Mei's hand. Observing Kan Mei's potential defeat, Chu general Ka Rin intervened, dispatching her brother Ka En to attack Mou Bu from behind. This distraction diverted Kan Mei's focus. When Mou Ten attempted to intercept Ka En, he was flung into Kan Mei's path. Kan Mei reacted by slashing Mou Ten, triggering Mou Bu's enraged retaliation. Mou Bu delivered a fatal blow, crushing Kan Mei's head and killing him instantly. Kan Mei possessed exceptional combat abilities, with his strength stat frequently cited as 99. He demonstrated proficiency with swords, meteor hammers, and war maces. Beyond physical prowess, he functioned as a capable military leader, adept at boosting troop morale through impassioned speeches and war songs glorifying his achievements. His tactical acumen allowed him to recognize and adapt to battlefield maneuvers, though Mou Bu ultimately outmaneuvered him at Kankoku Pass. Historically, Kan Mei is loosely based on the figure Han Ming, though the historical Han Ming was likely a scholar rather than a military commander.
