Description
Lami is a high-ranking angelic figure within the hierarchy of Heaven, holding the second-highest position directly beneath the King of Heaven. He is the father of the Polly brothers, Polyester and Polyurethane, who are angel cousins to the Anarchy sisters, Panty and Stocking. In the story of New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Lami initially operates from a distance, exerting influence through his sons. He dispatches the Polly brothers to Daten City with the explicit purpose of continuously harassing and antagonizing Panty and Stocking, an act that Garterbelt appears to accommodate by offering favors such as his sister’s license in an effort to placate Lami. As the narrative progresses, Lami’s role escalates from a background authority to a central antagonist. It is eventually revealed that his interference was not a reaction to events but a premeditated scheme from the very beginning. By the latter half of the second season, Lami steps directly into the conflict as the final boss, confronting the angel sisters when they refuse a request concerning the succession of the throne. His personality is characterized by manipulation, authority, and a calculating nature, using his sons as pawns to further his own agenda. His primary motivation appears to be the obstruction of Panty and Stocking, likely to secure his own power or to prevent their return to Heaven. In terms of abilities, as a high-ranking angel, he possesses formidable power commensurate with his station, enough to challenge the main characters directly. His development traces a curve from a seemingly distant overseer to an openly adversarial force, with his relationship with his sons being instrumental to his schemes. Little else is documented about his specific powers or personal history beyond his position and pivotal role as the primary villain of the season.
