Description
Kyōko Misaki is a supporting character in Summer Pockets. She is the younger sister of Hairi Takahara’s mother, making her his aunt. Following the death of her mother, Mrs. Kato, Kyōko takes over the management of the Kato family home and its belongings. She is the one who invites Hairi to the island of Torishirojima under the pretense of needing help to sort through the family’s storehouse, and she also sends a similar invitation to her second cousin, Umi Kato, so that the three of them can stay together during the summer. Kyōko is a warm, friendly woman who is welcoming and hospitable toward her nephew and those around her. She has a slender build, brown hair, amber eyes, and stands 162 cm tall. Her primary hobby is collecting antiques, and she is genuinely excited when she gets the chance to go through old items, sometimes snorting with delight as she organizes them. She also has an interest in archaeology and is able to read and translate old scripts and documents, a skill that proves useful when handling the heirlooms left by Mrs. Kato. Kyōko maintains a close friendship with Hitomi Naruse, the mother of Shiroha Naruse, and the two have a history of enjoying each other’s company. A key revelation about Kyōko’s background is that she was adopted by Mrs. Kato and is not biologically related to Hairi, a fact that becomes significant as the story unfolds. Her role in the narrative is primarily as the catalyst that brings Hairi to the island and provides a stable, caring presence during his stay. While she does not undergo a dramatic personal arc, her own history—especially her non-blood connection to the family and her past friendship with Hitomi—adds depth to the overall story. Kyōko’s notable abilities include her talent for identifying, cataloging, and interpreting antique objects, as well as her skill in deciphering old written materials.
