Description
Eigen Urabe is a character from the anime Go! Go! Loser Ranger! who begins as a candidate for the Blue Battalion. He comes from a wealthy family and resides in a large mansion, where he is the elder brother to three younger siblings named Masamune, Chikage, and Yae. He has a long-standing friendship with fellow candidate Ranmaru Koguma, having met him when they were both seven years old and making a pact to join the Ranger forces together.
In terms of personality, Eigen initially presents himself as brusque and battle-hungry, but underneath this exterior, he is relatively easygoing. He is ambitious, determined, and possesses a strong competitive streak, which fuels a daily rivalry with Hibiki Sakurama. A deeply held desire for truth and justice motivates his actions, as he cares about honesty and does not want to hide difficult realities from others. His protective instincts are paramount, centering on his family; he has stated clearly that if forced to choose between sparing an invader and protecting his family, he will choose his family every time.
Eigen's journey in the story is marked by key events during the Bailong Exam. During the exam, he fought against the invader known as Sentoin XX, who was disguised as Ranmaru, and was defeated. Later, when a powerful enemy named Peltrola appeared and seemingly killed Ranmaru, Eigen quickly deduced the truth and fought back. After a fierce battle, he and another cadet named Kai landed the finishing blow on a clone of Peltrola. Although Eigen failed the standard exam, his bravery and skill during this real crisis earned him special recognition, and he was granted a provisional position on the Blue Team.
Eigen’s experiences lead to significant character development. He reveals that his fight with Sentoin XX caused him to begin rethinking his views on the invaders, acknowledging that he could no longer be certain that the humans are entirely in the right. After witnessing the great sadness and loss of a fierce battle at the Floating Fortress, he became unwilling to keep terrible secrets from the next generation of Rangers. This change of heart ultimately led him to leave the main Ranger group and join the New Rangers, also known as the Neo-Rangers, to fight for what he believes is the truth. He demonstrates notable combat abilities, including hand-to-hand fighting skills that allowed him to defeat Sentoin XX and quickly overpower the invader D during the Green Keeper Arc.
