TV-Series
Description
Fighter D is the main protagonist of the story, a rebellious foot soldier from the Monster Army who refuses to accept the humiliating status quo imposed by the Divine Dragon Rangers. Thirteen years ago, the Monster Army invaded Earth, but within a year, their leadership was wiped out. The surviving rank-and-file fighters, known as Dusters, were forced into a secret agreement with the Ranger Force to stage fake battles every Sunday, where they are always defeated for the entertainment of the human public. Fighter D is a Duster, easily identified by the letter D on his shoulder, setting him apart from other foot soldiers.
Tired of this charade and the constant oppression, Fighter D is determined to achieve true world domination and destroy the Ranger Force from the inside. His personality is a blend of arrogance and a surprising sense of justice. While he proclaims himself an evil monster, his actions often reveal a more sympathetic and even noble core. He can be hot-headed and reckless, often charging into situations without a clear plan, but he is also innovative and learns to rely on his wits and cunning to overcome his physical weaknesses. He wants to live a life where he is not ordered around and forced to fight pointless battles he can never win. His primary motivation is a desire for freedom and respect, not only for himself but also for his fellow Dusters, who have lost all will to resist.
To achieve his goals, Fighter D infiltrates the Ranger Force. His ability to transform and mimic humans is his greatest asset. While his disguises can be broken if he takes significant damage, he is skilled at mimicking specific people, even from photographs, with his specialty being the mimicry of humans. He eventually takes on the identity of Hibiki Sakurama, a "colorless" ranger who secretly shares his desire to reform the Ranger Force from within. After passing the grueling Bailong Exams, he is scouted and assigned to the Green Battalion, a unit that specializes in covert operations and hunting down Invader Executives. This places him in a unique position where he is fighting against both the Ranger Force and the remnants of his own army’s command structure.
Fighter D’s key relationships are complex and often based on mutual distrust. Yumeko Suzukiri, a sadistic and ambitious member of the Yellow Squadron, offers him help and information, but her true motives remain a mystery, leaving D perpetually suspicious of her. In contrast, Hibiki Sakurama willingly sacrifices himself to allow D to assume his identity, driven by his own clear sense of justice against the oppression of the Dusters. Within the Green Battalion, he is assigned to Kanon Hisui, a commanding and sometimes annoying senior ranger who eventually learns his secret but chooses to trust him. He also has a complicated relationship with his fellow Dusters, often feeling at odds with their complacency, yet showing care for individuals like Fighter F and developing a crush on the feral Fighter XX. His rebellion culminates in turning against his own superior, the Boss Monster Peltrola, as his loyalty is ultimately to himself and his newfound ideals rather than any faction.
Throughout the story, Fighter D undergoes significant development. Initially, he conflates his desire for respect with a blind loyalty to the "evil" cause, but he gradually develops his own sense of justice and righteousness. He evolves from a simple avenger wanting to destroy his oppressors into a more thoughtful character who acknowledges his weaknesses and uses strategic thinking to achieve his goals. Despite being told repeatedly that he is weak, his defining trait is his refusal to give up. His strength lies not in raw power but in his immense cunning, abundant battle experience, and a nearly unkillable nature. Like all Dusters, he possesses rapid regeneration and the ability to deconstruct his body into black dust, allowing him to survive most injuries. He can also transform parts of his body into tools and weapons, though his full combat abilities are limited, forcing him to rely on deception and trickery to overcome his much more powerful enemies.
