Description
Norgalle Senridge is a condemned criminal and a member of Penal Hero Unit 9004, serving as its combat engineer. His background is defined by a large-scale terror attack on the royal castle of the Federated Kingdom, an act that included arson, murder, property damage, and lèse-majesté. He was subsequently sentenced to the punishment known as being a hero, a forced conscription into military service against demonic threats. Norgalle fully believes he is the rightful king of the Federated Kingdom, a conviction that drives his actions and self-presentation.

In personality, Norgalle is a man who speaks with unwavering confidence and certainty, carrying himself with a permanent, pompous expression as though he were someone of immense importance. He harbors deep pride in his craftsmanship and skills, as well as in his self-proclaimed royal status. Despite his reputation as a former terrorist and his grandiose demeanor, he is described as appearing noble and capable of humility, especially in the presence of the goddess Teoritta, toward whom he acts deferential and respectful, in stark contrast to how he normally treats others. His other penal unit members refer to him as His Majesty.

Norgalle’s role in the story is that of the unit’s specialist in holy seal tuning, the discipline of inscribing, calibrating, and reconfiguring sacred seals. He is recognized as a genius in this field, possessing truly first-class ability even among experts. As the penal unit’s engineer, he maintains and enhances the seals that are crucial for the heroes’ combat effectiveness. His technical expertise makes him an invaluable asset during missions, often proving to be the key to overcoming obstacles that brute force alone cannot solve.

His key relationships center on his fellow penal heroes, who tolerate his affectations, and on Teoritta, the goddess whose favor he actively seeks. He interacts with the unit leader, Xylo Forbartz, and other members, contributing his engineering skills to the group’s efforts. His development is tied to his delusion of kingship, which remains unwavering, but his competence and occasional flashes of nobility earn him a grudging respect from those around him, even as they acknowledge his eccentricity.

Notable abilities include exceptional proficiency with holy seals, allowing him to engrave, tune, and repair them to optimize the unit’s performance in battle. He also carries a sword, though his primary combat contribution is through his engineering rather than direct frontline fighting. His technical knowledge and craftsmanship are his defining strengths, making him a vital, if eccentric, member of the penal hero unit.
