Description
Peatz is a non-player character in the anime and manga Shangri-La Frontier, introduced as one of the younger brothers of Emul, a rabbit tribe member associated with the village of Rabituza. In his natural form, he appears as a yellow rabbit with turquoise eyes. Rather than remaining in Rabituza, Peatz regularly travels to other settlements and disguises himself as a human in order to conduct business. He sets up his shop on an irregular basis in places such as the town of Thirdrema, where he offers players strange goods and rare items said to come from the New Continent.
In terms of personality, Peatz genuinely enjoys buying and selling unusual merchandise. His enthusiasm for odd items, however, is not matched by a strong sense for commerce, and he is not very good at choosing what to sell. As a result, he often ends up stuck with peculiar goods that are difficult to move. Although he clearly wants to make a profit, he can be tricked or pushed around by more assertive players, most notably Sunraku, who sometimes gets the better of him in their dealings. This gives Peatz the character of a well-meaning but somewhat hapless merchant.
His main motivation is trade, and his role in the story is that of a recurring supporting shopkeeper who links the rabbit tribe's home base with the wider player world. Through his disguised travels, he provides players with access to uncommon merchandise and serves as a small but steady presence in the game's towns. His key relationships include his family connection to Emul and his occasional business encounters with Sunraku, who tends to outwit him during negotiations. Peatz is not a central figure in the major narrative arcs; instead, his function is as a colorful side character whose shopkeeping habits add texture to the game world. His notable abilities are tied to his merchant profession, chiefly the capacity to disguise himself as a human to move freely among players and the knack for obtaining rare or strange goods from distant regions such as the New Continent.
