Description
Mudo is a member of the Black Dragon clan, a dragon-type katawara who first appears in the second story arc of Sengoku Youko, titled Senma Konton-hen. He possesses powerful dragon abilities as well as the innate power to control lightning. Initially, Mudo is arrogant and battle‑hungry, frustrated because most opponents are far too weak to challenge him. His primary motivation is to become the strongest and claim the title of Dragon King, which leads him to antagonize the main protagonist Senya and the group around him. After being defeated by Senya in combat, Mudo develops a new interest in human martial arts and seeks out the master martial artist Douren to become his disciple. This decision marks the beginning of a significant character arc. Under Douren’s tutelage, Mudo gradually sheds his brash and combative nature, learning discipline and humility. His relationship with Senya evolves from pure rivalry into a more respectful mutual challenge, and he eventually reconciles with another character named Chiya, further softening his demeanor. Over the course of the story, Mudo transforms from an arrogant and volatile youth into a calm, trusted ally whose abilities are used for more than just personal glory. He ages slowly as a dragon: he is about eleven years old at the start of part two, around eighteen in the middle of the arc, and well over two hundred years old by the final chapter. Notable abilities include his dragon physiology, which grants him great physical strength and resilience, and his lightning‑based attacks, which make him a formidable combatant even among katawara. His development is a central thread in the second half of the series, showing how even the most prideful beings can grow through experience and guidance.
