Description
Kai is the main protagonist and a young boy from the remote human village of Lag, also known as Rag. At the beginning of the story, he is thirteen years old and holds a low rank within the village, serving as a common foot soldier. His life has been one of constant hardship, defined by intense labor, a severe scarcity of food, and relentless battles against invading demi-human creatures. This harsh upbringing, however, has forged in him a resilient and hardworking nature.

Kai's personality is shaped by a fundamental desire to improve his difficult life. He is driven by a wish to become more powerful, yet he is also deeply practical and cautious. This caution stems from a profound fear of the consequences that might follow if he openly uses his unique abilities in a world filled with dangerous and prying eyes. He is observant and contemplative, frequently troubled by strange visions and memories of another world, which sets him apart from his peers. His core motivations are survival and self-improvement, but as he gains new powers, his journey expands to include a search for the meaning behind his strange memories and the mysteries of the world around him.

Kai's role in the story is that of an unlikely hero whose destiny changes dramatically during a battle. After sustaining a life-threatening injury, he recalls memories from a past life, which grants him unique insights and knowledge from a world with advanced technology. This awakening, combined with a freakish series of events, leads to him acquiring the powers of a guardian bearer—an individual blessed by a Land God with a divine crest and immense spiritual strength. Following a near-fatal fall into a lake, he consumes the god-stone of an Org and awakens to find he bears the face crest of a guardian bearer. He later becomes a vessel for the God of Arbitration, a powerful entity that rules over a valley deep in the forest.

His key relationships are central to his development. He is friends with fellow villagers Manso, Ngore, and Arue. He also shares a significant connection with Jose, the daughter of the village lord and a love interest who helps keep his secrets. He develops a mentor-student dynamic with Moloch, the lord of Lag, who trains him in combat. After meeting the dwarf-like Koror people and their elder, Porek, Kai becomes seen as their Arbitration God, and Porek's granddaughter, Aruwe, dedicates herself to serving him. His relationship with Elsa, a village girl who supports the warriors, hints at a mutual, unspoken affection rooted in their shared experience of losing their original homes.

Throughout the story, Kai undergoes significant development. He begins as a lowly, struggling soldier who is denied access to resources like god-stones, which are reserved for the elite. As he learns to master his new powers, he also grapples with his reincarnated memories, using concepts like molecules and cells to understand and develop his abilities. He builds a dual life between his village and the valley, creating a small paradise for the Koror tribe and defending it against threats. He evolves from a boy fighting for mere survival to a formidable guardian bearer capable of defeating powerful enemies, even while he consciously suppresses his full strength to avoid attracting unwanted divine attention.

Kai possesses several notable abilities. He gains the power of a guardian bearer, which includes a divine crest, superhuman physical characteristics, enhanced senses, and natural regeneration. He is a reincarnated individual, and his past-life memories grant him knowledge that he uses to innovate. His most distinct power is the ability to use magic, which he discovered by pushing spiritual energy from his god-stone through his fingers to create fire. He can also use this spiritual energy for healing, even while lacking the vocabulary to explain the scientific basis for his actions. As the Arbitration God's vessel, his godly flames are blue, and he can wield conceptual abilities, including an Invisible Sword that can cut the electrostatic bonds holding molecules together.
