Kiyazuna, known as Kiyazuna the Axle, is a character who appears as a self-proclaimed Demon King within the world of Ishura. She is the legendary creator of the Great Nagan Labyrinth, a massive structure that also possesses the ability to transform into a powerful golem. Her background reveals that she was once the ruler of an autonomous golem kingdom, which was ultimately destroyed by the being known as Atrazek the Particle Storm during the era of the True Demon King; this event is the source of a deep-seated grudge she holds against that beast. Despite the title of Demon King, her motivations are not rooted in simple villainy. A significant part of her character is defined by her relationship with her greatest creation, Mestelexil the Box of Desperate Knowledge, a sentient and nearly immortal construct she built to prevent an incoming calamity. She considers Mestelexil her son, and she is portrayed as a patient and encouraging mother figure who actively wants her creation to develop its own will and dreams, even considering the possibility that it might one day rebel against her as a natural outcome of its independent thought. Her role in the story expands as she eventually agrees to work for the city-state of Aureatia, joining the camp of her former student, Kaete the Round Table, where she begins contributing her immense talents to the military by producing innovative golems such as helicopter and bomb variants. Kiyazuna is an immensely powerful threat and a master of Word Arts, using this magic system specifically to create constructs. She is noted as one of the world's foremost experts in crafting both golems and homunculi, having built an entire army of several thousand golems for her former kingdom and later creating Mestelexil using a Visitor scholar as a basis to grant it otherworldly knowledge. Her abilities are rooted in a combination of scientific knowledge and Word Arts mastery over the four basic forms of Craft, Force, Thermal, and Life, which allows her to develop immensely powerful and destructive weapons. Much of her scientific knowledge comes from studying the technology of the Visitors from the Beyond, which she replicates and improves upon. In combat, she primarily fights using unique, custom-made guns designed for rapid fire, a significant departure from the common muskets used by other kingdoms, and she displays decent marksmanship to provide cover fire in battle.
