Description
Neft of the Equinox, also known as Neft the Nirvana, is a survivor of the legendary First Party that confronted the True Demon King. The battle left him in a state between life and death, his body having become a living corpse that he maintains through a unique regenerative technique. Because of the extreme physical toll he endured—repeatedly injuring himself and using Life Arts to heal, which greatly depleted his cells—he now exists in a mummified form to conserve his remaining life force. As a result, he appears aged and withered, but his abilities remain formidable.
He is worshipped as the principal deity of the Zehf tribe, a pack of lycan warriors who revere him and study the martial arts he bequeathed them. Though he stays in his mummified state for preservation, he appoints assistant instructors to teach the tribe in his stead. His combat style centers on a martial art built around rotational motion, which he wields with great speed and precision. He typically fights with axes, both in melee and as thrown weapons powerful enough to demolish wooden structures, and complements them with quick kicks and agile movements. His regeneration makes him nearly immortal, capable of recovering from wounds that would be fatal to others.
Neft’s motivations are rooted in loyalty and preservation. He chose to retreat to the Gokashae Sand Sea in order to protect Psianop the Inexhaustible Stagnation, his last remaining comrade from the First Party. He is also the one who taught Psianop how to use Life Arts, indicating a close bond and a role as a mentor. His role in the story is that of a guardian and anchor to the past, a remnant of the age when the Demon King was fought, whose actions are shaped by his desire to safeguard those he cares about. His development is marked by this gradual decline, as his selfless use of his regenerative powers has reduced his lifespan, yet he remains dedicated to his duty. Key relationships include his ties to the Zehf tribe, who view him as a divine figure, and his deep connection to Psianop, whom he protects and instructed.
