Atsushi Ono

Description
Atsushi Ono is a Japanese actor, voice actor, and narrator affiliated with the talent agency Office Osawa. He was born on September 9, 1961, in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Ono's path to voice acting was an unconventional one, as he began his career in the entertainment industry not as a voice actor, but as a narrator for commercials and television programs in the Nagoya area. It was not until his early forties that he decided to pursue voice acting seriously, enrolling in a professional dubbing course in Tokyo in 2003 and officially beginning his voice acting career in 2004.

Since his debut, Ono has built an extensive and diverse filmography, becoming a recognizable presence in Japanese animation. His deep and versatile voice has allowed him to portray a wide range of characters, from stoic warriors and authoritative figures to monsters and laid-back individuals. Among his many roles are Kaoru Gojō in My Dress-Up Darling, Floki in Vinland Saga, Monster King Orochi in One Punch Man, and Eddie Cassano in Great Pretender. He is also known for his work as Kaijin in both The Slime Diaries and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, as well as roles in series such as Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious (Selseus), The Eccentric Family (Ebisu), Birdy the Mighty Decode:02 (Gatol), Suite Precure (Bassdrum), Bodacious Space Pirates (Jotoff Sief Sydow), Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit (Mikado), Fw:Hamatora (Master), and The Devil Is a Part-Timer!! (Nord Justina / Hiroshi Satou).

Ono's career is marked by his ability to take on both prominent supporting roles and minor characters, lending his voice to a vast number of productions. His filmography includes notable parts in long-running and critically acclaimed series such as Natsume's Book of Friends, Bleach, Gintama, and Naruto. He has also had recurring roles in franchises like Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans as Nadi Yukinojou Kassapa and Bungo Stray Dogs as Ryuro Hirotsu. Beyond anime, his narration work is highly regarded, having voiced commercials for major brands like BMW, Asahi, and Sony, and he has also been involved in dubbing foreign films and TV series.

Throughout his career, Atsushi Ono has been respected for his realistic acting style and his dedication to fully immersing himself in his characters. A notable aspect of his professional life is his deep respect for veteran voice actor Kiyoshi Kobayashi, famously the voice of Daisuke Jigen in Lupin the Third. Ono studied Kobayashi's performance for years, hoping to one day take on the role. Although he was not selected for that specific part, this ambition has driven him to continually challenge himself in his craft. He is also known to hold a first-degree black belt in kendo. He is married to fellow voice actress Rinz Ono.
