Description
Bassdrum, a former antagonist within Trio the Minor, initially served Mephisto in Minor Land with the mission to gather scattered notes and complete the Melody of Sorrow. Before his villainous turn, he belonged to Major Land's Three Musketeers, protecting the kingdom until he and his comrades fell under Noise's control.

Physically large with distinctive green hair and a matching split beard, Bassdrum typically wore a long purple cape over a white collared shirt and dark green trousers. Mephisto's power enhancements via special earphones in episode 26 transformed his appearance: he grew more muscular with spiked hair and beard, developed purple heart-shaped facial markings, gray bone-like shoulder armor, and a red chest gem. A further monstrous transformation in episode 37, induced by Falsetto using evil Noise, amplified his size, granting him bright green amphibious skin, clawed hands and feet, a short white tail, and bird-skull shoulder pads; he disliked this form despite its increased strength. Post-redemption, his attire shifted to a white ruffled shirt, green vest, pants, a short cape fastened by a brooch, and a sword scabbard at his hip.

Arrogant and fixated on leadership, Bassdrum referred to himself as "Ore-sama." This self-importance fueled frequent clashes with superiors like Siren and peers Baritone and Falsetto. His overconfidence caused tactical oversights during missions, yet he demonstrated underlying loyalty—defending Baritone when Falsetto upset him and grieving Falsetto's apparent death. Like others from Minor Land, he reacted negatively to happy music. He was notably sensitive about his beard, becoming agitated if disturbed.

Bassdrum constantly vied for control of Trio the Minor. He reported Siren's growing empathy for humans to Mephisto in episode 11 to usurp her position, briefly succeeding. After Siren permanently departed in episode 21, he claimed leadership but struggled with Baritone’s discontent and Falsetto’s eventual rebellion. Mephisto’s enhancements evolved his abilities: his sense of smell sharpened to detect distant notes, and his strength increased dramatically—shattering Cure Melody’s defensive barriers in one strike during his powered-up state.

His story featured corruption and redemption arcs. Evil Noise amplified his power and aggression from episodes 26–36. Contact with the Cure Module purged this corruption in episode 42, restoring his true self. Though Noise temporarily re-brainwashed him, Mephisto freed him permanently in the following episode. Redeemed, he sacrificed himself in episode 46 to protect the Pretty Cure team from Noise’s absorption, later revived in the finale by their efforts.

Relationships defined his journey: he resented Siren’s authority and actively undermined her. His rivalry with Baritone softened into camaraderie when both became Falsetto’s subordinates, cooperating despite incompetence under his rule. His dynamic with Falsetto shifted from friction to genuine concern, valuing his competence and mourning his apparent death.

Trivia notes include his record of 15 Negatone summons (tying with Siren) and extreme protectiveness over his beard.
