Description
Niko is the ruler and creator of the magical realm known as the Niko Garden, a sanctuary where animal-like beings called Niko Animals and Kirarin Animals live in harmony. She appears as both a small, pale pink unicorn with a bulbous body, a spiraled horn, and a gold crown, and a human-like princess with long curly hair, a rainbow ribbon, a gold horn, and a white, purple, and pink frilly dress with a teal cape. In the events of Wonderful Precure! The Movie!, she supports the Precure team as they are drawn into a game world, though her primary role remains that of a wise and benevolent overseer.
Niko’s personality balances regal dignity with a capricious, sometimes playful nature. She can be tricksy and leave others confused, yet she carries an aura of majesty and becomes strict and intimidating when necessary. Despite this, she is fundamentally kind and deeply cares for all living creatures, especially the animals under her protection. Her principal motivation is to protect the Niko Garden and its inhabitants from harm, and she values the happiness that comes from harmony between animals and humans.
Before the story, Niko created the Niko Garden and populated it with animals from Earth. After the villain Gaou attacked and damaged the Niko Diamond—a source of her power—many Niko Animals were transformed into monstrous Garugaru. Niko herself was reduced to an egg for a time, eventually hatching and regaining her strength. She develops a close bond with the four main Cures—Cure Wonderful, Cure Friendly, Cure Nyammy, and Cure Lillian—as they work together to purify the Garugaru and restore the garden. Her relationship with Meymey, a sheep-like Niko Animal who serves as her butler, is particularly notable: she often scolds him for his missteps but genuinely cares for him.
Niko draws power from what is called Nikoniko Power, which is generated by the smiles of animals and humans. This energy allows her to assume her human form temporarily. Her gold crown contains a diamond that channels this energy, and she possesses unique abilities that ordinary Niko Animals and Kirarin Animals do not have, including the capacity to create and sustain the Niko Garden itself. Over the course of the story, she becomes more comfortable interacting with humans and learns to trust the Precure’s determination, gradually revealing her full regal authority and wisdom.
