Description
Kaiko Itsuki is a supporting character in Chained Soldier, serving as the commander of the Anti-Demon Corps' 5th Unit. Standing at 160 centimeters tall with a birthday on May 27, she is a human woman whose name carries a meaningful reference, as Kaiko is the Japanese word for silkworm. Her appearance is marked by her long hair, which she typically keeps organized with a hairband, and she wears the standard uniform of the corps.
Personality-wise, Kaiko is characterized by a high level of professionalism and a strong work consciousness, having been a long-time member of the Anti-Demon Corps. She displays a mature and responsible demeanor, which stands in notable contrast to the more unconventional personality of her own unit commander. Despite these differences, she maintains complete confidence in her superior's leadership. This sense of responsibility and trust defines her approach to her duties, making her a reliable figure within the organization. Her role is fundamentally that of a supporter, as she possesses a rare and invaluable healing ability, making her the only character introduced so far whose Peach Blessing is exclusively specialized in recovery.
Kaiko's primary contribution to the story is her ability, known as Miracle Care or the Vega's Cocoon. This power allows her to treat injured individuals by enveloping them in a protective cocoon of silk; once the healing process is complete, the cocoon is torn open. The treatment requires the patient to be unclothed, and while her ability is potent enough to reattach severed limbs, it has limitations. It cannot regenerate body parts that are entirely missing, nor can it restore hair that has been burned away. Her skills are portrayed as highly effective, as she was able to treat near-fatal injuries and have the patient discharged from care by the following day.
In the narrative, Kaiko first appears during a joint training exercise between the 6th and 7th Units, where she is seen meditating alongside another non-combat-oriented member to refine their mental focus. Her most significant appearances are in the aftermath of major battles, where she plays a crucial role in healing the wounded members of other units. Following a large-scale invasion, she is called upon to mend the injuries of the 6th and 7th Units, and on another occasion, she heals the injured Himari and Shushu, demonstrating her importance as a strategic asset for the entire corps. Her long service history and critical support function underline her value to the Anti-Demon Corps, even though she does not engage in direct frontline combat.
