Description
Kyōka Uzen is the commander of the Seventh Unit of the Anti-Demon Corps, known as the Demon Commander for her strict discipline and exceptional combat skill. Her past is defined by tragedy: she is the sole survivor of a Shuuki attack that destroyed her hometown, claimed her family and friends, and left her gravely wounded. That event forged a deep hatred for Shuuki and a lifelong commitment to eradicating them. After recovering, she trained under the former chief of the First Unit, Myōga Riu, and later joined the Anti-Demon Corps, eventually rising to lead the Seventh Unit after defeating her predecessor in a duel.

Kyōka is a fiercely serious and dedicated leader who holds herself and her subordinates to high standards. She is often absorbed in training and missions, to the point of neglecting rest, but she cares deeply for her squad and will risk everything to protect them. Beneath her cold exterior lies a more vulnerable and caring side that emerges in private moments, especially with those she trusts. Her driving motivations are twofold: to destroy the Shuuki, particularly the One-Horned monster responsible for the massacre of her home, and to rise through the ranks to become the Supreme Commander of the Anti-Demon Corps, a position she pursues with unwavering ambition.

Her peach-derived supernatural ability is called Slave, also known as Infinite Chain. It allows her to form a contract with a living being, enslaving them and amplifying their combat power. Her first and only human slave is Yūki Wakura, a young man she rescues during a Mato incursion. When she activates the contract, Yūki transforms into a powerful beast-like form with enhanced strength, speed, and endurance. The ability comes with a mandatory condition: after the slave has served in battle, Kyōka must provide a reward based on the slave’s deepest desire at that moment, a rule that often forces her into embarrassing situations. She can also lend her slave to other peach users, which alters his form and taxes her own stamina. Beyond her ability, Kyōka is a formidable physical combatant in her own right; she is one of the few people who can defeat Shuuki without supernatural powers, relying on her original swordsmanship and relentless training.

Her most significant relationship is with Yūki, which evolves from a strict master‑slave dynamic into a bond of mutual trust, dependence, and romantic tension. She also maintains a competitive but respectful rivalry with Kamunoten Mira, the chief of the Sixth Unit, and is revered by Varvara Pilipenko, the chief of the Eighth Unit, who holds her in near‑religious admiration. Over the course of the story, Kyōka gradually learns to balance her obsessive dedication to her mission with personal connections and emotional growth. Her ultimate technique, developed in dire combat against one of the Eight Thunder Gods, is Infinite Chain: Heaven’s Advance, which manifests Yūki’s body and soul as a sword to deliver a decisive slash. Despite her ruthless battlefield persona, Kyōka has a hidden fondness for sweets and shows a protective, sometimes flustered, side when her slave is involved with other women, revealing the emotional complexity beneath her composed facade.
