Description
Munseong Kim is a character from the anime Viral Hit, adapted from the webtoon How to Fight. He is a mixed martial arts fighter who was formerly the vice leader of a delinquent gang called Skid. During his youth, he was already a formidable fighter, which earned him the position of second-in-command within the gang. He developed his fighting techniques largely on his own, relying on his natural physique and instincts before receiving any formal training. His potential was later recognized by Ho-Bin Yoo, who took an interest in his abilities.

Munseong has a calm and composed personality, rarely showing aggression unless provoked. He possesses an intimidating presence that can command attention and defuse conflicts without physical confrontation, as seen when he effortlessly silenced a bully in Hobin Yoo's classroom. Despite his tough exterior, he is loyal to his friends and acts as a reliable ally in crucial moments. His primary motivation is to become stronger and to protect those close to him. He holds a deep respect for fighting as a discipline and seeks to refine his skills through training under legendary figures like Logan Gracie. His past rivalry with Taehun Seong also drives him to prove his growth as a fighter.

In the story, Munseong initially appears as a mysterious and strong figure within the school setting, later revealing his background as a former gang member and rising MMA rookie. He becomes an important ally to the main protagonist, Hobin Yoo, assisting him in battles against powerful opponents such as Lee Jinho and his crew. He also serves as a foil to characters like Taehun, with whom he shares a competitive history. Munseong has been friends with Bo-Mi Choi since elementary school, and this friendship creates complicated emotions for him regarding Ho-Bin Yoo, who grows close to Bo-Mi. His relationship with Ho-Bin is one of mutual respect but also tension due to their shared connection to Bo-Mi. His rivalry with Taehun Seong is central to his development; he lost to Taehun in middle school but later defeated him in a UFC match, marking a major milestone.

Munseong undergoes significant growth throughout the series. Early on, he relies on his natural strength and a grappling-heavy style, which he developed from his gang days. After traveling to the United States to train with Logan Gracie, he refines his technique, adding weight training to improve his striking power, and evolves into a well-rounded all-rounder fighter. He returns to Korea more skilled and helps Hobin in key confrontations. His eventual path leads him to become a professional champion, as depicted in the spin-off series My Life as a Loser.

Notable abilities include his impressive physique and muscular build, which makes him difficult to damage in close combat. His original fighting style centered on grappling, with a rough, dogfighting approach that utilized his size and strength. After formal training, he incorporates balanced striking and becomes a versatile fighter capable of both takedowns and powerful punches. He is particularly noted for his double-leg takedowns and ground control. Munseong Kim is a complex character who transitions from a delinquent gang fighter to a disciplined professional MMA athlete, driven by personal growth, loyalty, and the desire to become the strongest version of himself.
