Description
Chroe Mashima is a Grévy's zebra mare distinguished by white and black hair arranged in a long ponytail secured with a pink ribbon, yellow and green heterochromatic eyes, prominent zebra ears, and a tail characteristically fluffy only at its tip—a feature she habitually conceals. Initially, she displays a haughty and self-important demeanor, presenting herself as nobility due to her zebra lineage while expressing disdain for donkeys, whom she deems inferior. This attitude drives her to distance herself from donkey students and assert her identity as a "rare striped horse."

A turning point arises when Jin Mazama publicly challenges her claimed ancestry by lifting her tail to expose its donkey-like structure, contradicting her assertions of pure horse lineage. The humiliation prompts her immediate flight. Subsequently, she undergoes significant development, acknowledging her closer biological ties to donkeys and integrating into their community. She forges authentic friendships with the donkey brothers she once scorned, eventually embracing them as part of her herd.

Her immersion in donkey culture includes deep investment in their card game, "Magic: The Donkeys." Her powerful kicking ability—an authentic zebra defensive trait capable of inflicting serious injury—becomes central to her success, securing her the title of world champion. This same instinctive reflex serves as a defense against perceived threats, exemplified when she repels Chii Suimori's attempted blood-sucking with a forceful kick.
