Description
Bazz-B, whose real name is Bazzard Black, is a prominent figure within the Sternritter, the elite military force of the Wandenreich, bearing the designation Sternritter H, known as "The Heat". With a history spanning over a thousand years, he first appears as an aggressive and ruthless invader during the initial assault on the Soul Society, effortlessly defeating high-ranking Soul Reapers including Lieutenant Izuru Kira. However, his role deepens considerably in the third part of the conflict, revealing a complex individual driven by a personal vendetta that has secretly fueled his entire military career.

Bazz-B is characterized by his explosive and hot-headed nature, a personality that is visually mirrored by his distinctive, tall red mohawk and punk-inspired accessories. He is brash, confrontational, and possesses a sharp tongue, often mocking his enemies and even challenging his own superiors. He holds a deep-seated pride in his abilities and his unique sense of style, taking great offense to anyone who mocks his appearance. Despite his often cruel and merciless demeanor towards his enemies, this aggressive exterior masks a far more vulnerable and driven core. His primary, secret motivation is not loyalty to the Quincy king, but revenge. As a child, Bazz-B witnessed the destruction of his hometown and the death of his family at the hands of Yhwach, an event that set him on a centuries-long path of retribution. He joined the very organization of his destroyer with the singular goal of getting close enough to eventually assassinate him.

The most defining aspect of Bazz-B's character is his profound and tragic relationship with Jugram Haschwalth, the commander of the Sternritter. Their history is a classic tale of reversed fortunes. As children in a medieval-like land, the energetic and talented Bazz-B befriended the timid and powerless Jugram. Bazz-B took the weaker boy under his wing as his subordinate, vowing to train him and make him strong. Their bond was cemented by shared tragedy, and together they swore to kill Yhwach. For years, Bazz-B was the superior, the mentor, and the protector. This dynamic shattered when they finally stood before Yhwach, who immediately recognized the latent, invaluable potential in Jugram, taking him in as his "other half" while dismissing the outwardly powerful Bazz-B as merely another soldier. This event created an unbridgeable rift, transforming their childhood friendship into a bitter, one-sided rivalry. For centuries, Bazz-B watched his former subordinate rise to become his direct superior, all while desperately seeking a fight to prove his own worth and confront the perceived betrayal of their shared dream.

In the story of the Thousand-Year Blood War, Bazz-B initially serves as a formidable antagonist, demonstrating his immense power by easily handling captains like Toshiro Hitsugaya. However, his true role as a traitor emerges when Yhwach uses a technique called Auswählen, which strips many Quincies of their powers to fuel the king's own. Having been "chosen" and robbed of his strength, Bazz-B finally abandons any pretense of loyalty and openly rebels, seeking out his true target. This rebellion culminates in a climactic and emotionally devastating confrontation with Jugram Haschwalth in the Wahrwelt. This battle is the tragic endpoint of their centuries-long relationship, where their childhood friendship is laid bare in flashbacks even as they attempt to kill each other in the present. Despite unleashing his full power, Bazz-B is ultimately defeated by Haschwalth. In his final moments, he is not filled with rage, but with a strange sense of peace and joy, having finally forced his old friend to fight him with everything he had.

As a Quincy, Bazz-B's abilities are a stark contrast to the more traditional, bow-wielding members of his race. His signature power, "The Heat," allows him to generate and manipulate incredibly powerful flames, which he claims can even rival the flames of Captain-Commander Yamamoto's legendary blade, Ryujin Jakka. His combat style revolves around his "Burning Finger" techniques. By channeling his scorching spiritual pressure into different fingers of his right hand, he can release attacks ranging from focused, pistol-like projectiles with one finger (Burning Finger 1) to massive, explosive blades of fire with four fingers (Burning Finger 4). His ultimate and most powerful technique, which he was unable to complete in his final battle, is known as "Burning Full Fingers" or "Blazing Hell," unleashing a devastating vortex of flame from all five fingers of his left hand. He is also proficient in standard Quincy techniques like Hirenkyaku for high-speed movement and can enter his Quincy: Vollstandig form to enhance his flames, though he loses this ability after Yhwach's Auswählen. Bazz-B's journey is one of a man consumed by revenge, only to find that the friendship he lost along the way was the true source of his strength and his ultimate undoing.
