Description
Otomi, known by the stage name Otomin, is a supporting character in the anime Mayonaka Punch. She is a member of the three-person NewTube creator group the Harikiri Sisters, where she performs alongside her colleague Kikka and, originally, the future protagonist Masaki Sonoue, who used the name Masakichi. She is an adult woman with purple hair cut to ear length and blue eyes.
Otomi is characterized as a warm-hearted and gentle person with a calm, easygoing manner. The defining trait of her character is the contrast between her appearance and her behavior: although she looks soft, kind, and relaxed, she is actually surprisingly straightforward, brisk, and clear-cut in a way that does not match her gentle first impression.
In the story, Otomi belongs to a group at the center of the protagonist's past. During a livestream, the Harikiri Sisters decide to expel Masaki after she strikes another member, an incident that ruins Masaki's reputation and pushes her to launch a new channel with the vampires of Mayonaka Punch. Otomi is therefore one of the former colleagues Masaki hopes to prove wrong, and the continued activity of the Harikiri Sisters places them as a professional rival to Masaki's new project. Otomi also represents part of the broader NewTube creator world in which the series takes place.
Her key relationships are with her group members. With Kikka, she shares an ongoing working partnership, as the two continue the Harikiri Sisters after Masaki's departure. With Masaki, she shares a history as former bandmates whose collaboration ended badly, leaving them on opposite sides of the online creator scene.
Unlike the vampire characters, Otomi is a regular human creator with no supernatural abilities; her appeal lies in her personality and her on-camera role within the group's videos. Her motivations are tied to her work as a NewTuber, continuing the group's activities and maintaining its standing in the competitive world of online content. As a supporting character, she does not receive a major story arc of her own, and her function in the narrative is mainly to represent Masaki's old team and the rivalry that drives the main story.
