Description
Alberto serves as a close aide to Sauvel within the Vankrieft family, having originally been a guard for Rovel Vankrieft. He is characterized by a straightforward and earnest personality, and he does not hesitate to make self-sacrifices if it means protecting the family to which he has devoted his life. Alberto is a married man and a father; his son is named Kai. His wife is described as having a strong will, and Alberto is said to be completely devoted to her, a fact that his son finds somewhat embarrassing.

Alberto’s motivations are deeply rooted in a sense of duty, loyalty, and guilt. He was determined to lead military forces to subdue monsters immediately after his marriage, driven by a need to protect his wife, unborn child, and his master. A pivotal tragedy occurred when the head of the Vankrieft family died protecting Alberto, leaving him with the master’s final words to deliver to his widow. This event, compounded by the apparent death of the heir Rovel, left Alberto feeling trapped and alone. For the ten years Rovel was recovering in the spirit realm, Alberto waited, burdened by the mindset that he alone had to protect the Vankrieft family. He was haunted by a deep regret and guilt over his failure to protect the former head and the heir.

This guilt and his unwavering loyalty led Alberto into a difficult situation. In an effort to save the Vankrieft house from internal strife, he began acting as an informant for the royal family, not realizing the danger this posed. This role inadvertently drew the attention of the royals to the young protagonist, Ellen, which created a serious conflict. When confronted by Rovel, Alberto showed immense remorse, bowing down and offering a heartfelt apology for his actions, which he had mistakenly believed were for the best. He was saved from the consequences of this betrayal by Ellen, who burned a letter from the prince, thereby sparing Alberto from being expelled from the family or worse. This act of mercy had a profound effect on him, and he resolved that he would sacrifice his own life if necessary to protect the family in the future. Although Rovel admitted he could not yet trust Alberto, he allowed him to return to his position as Sauvel’s aide, instructing him to thank Ellen for her mercy.

Alberto’s role in the story is that of a loyal but flawed retainer whose past traumas drive him to make poor decisions, only to be redeemed through the forgiveness of the younger generation. His key relationships are with Rovel, his master whom he failed and whose trust he must re-earn; with Ellen, the reincarnator who saves him from his folly; and with Sauvel, to whom he serves as a close aide. Regarding his abilities, he is noted for having led military forces in the past, indicating a background in combat and command. His story is one of a man crushed by guilt and a misplaced sense of duty, who finds a path toward redemption through the wisdom and compassion of a child.
