Haruma Hazeura is a 14-year-old second-year student at Shadowverse Battle College and the captain of the First Reaper club. Standing 172 centimeters tall and weighing 61 kilograms with O blood type, he is a primary source of chaos within the school's Shadowverse community. His distinctive appearance includes purple hair with streaks, orange eyes, tanned skin, and various accessories such as a necklace and skull-themed items, and he is often seen biting on a piece of candy.
Haruma possesses a very aggressive and ferocious personality, presenting himself as a ruthless player who takes pleasure in humiliating opponents he deems weak. His battle style is characterized by cruelty, as he systematically crushes weaker students and pressures them to quit playing Shadowverse altogether. He was responsible for disbanding the Seventh Flame club by driving away its members and similarly destroyed the Third Feather club by overwhelming its former manager, Seira. This behavior stems from a deep-seated fear and aversion to losing, a trauma that developed after repeated, crushing defeats at the hands of Mikado Shirogane. The pain of being trampled despite his best efforts left him convinced that losing equates to weakness and despair. Motivated by this need to assert dominance and avoid his own vulnerability, Haruma aims to maintain his position as the strongest and most feared player at the academy. His role in the story is that of a significant antagonist who directly opposes the protagonist, Light Tenryu, and his ideals. While he easily defeats Light in their first encounter, telling him to quit the game, their rivalry deepens during the club tournament finals. In this decisive rematch, Haruma is pushed to his limits and ultimately defeated by Light, who refuses to give up. This loss forces Haruma to confront his own philosophy as Light tries to reach the good in his heart.
