Description
Mizuki Hazama is a twenty-year-old manga assistant who works closely with the rookie mangaka Nana Futami. Affectionately called Ha-san by Nana, she first met Nana during their first year of junior high school through her older sister, who was a classmate of Nana's. Mizuki once aspired to become a mangaka herself and garnered some online attention for her work, but past setbacks led her to believe she lacked the necessary talent, prompting her to take on the role of an assistant instead. In her professional capacity, she is responsible for drawing backgrounds, applying tones, and helping Nana complete her manuscripts on time, and she is widely regarded as an exceptionally efficient and skilled artist. Personality-wise, Mizuki is level-headed, pragmatic, and more socially adjusted than her anxious and delusion-prone boss. She frequently acts as the voice of reason, calmly reining in Nana's spiraling thoughts and providing both technical assistance and emotional support. Her observant and slightly amused demeanor helps balance the often chaotic atmosphere of the workplace. Mizuki maintains a close, trusting professional relationship with Nana, and she also interacts regularly with Nana's editor, Kaede Sato, during the manuscript submission process. While her role remains largely consistent as the reliable backbone of the studio, she occasionally reflects on her own abandoned dreams of becoming a published mangaka, adding a layer of quiet personal depth to her character. Her primary motivation is to support Nana's success and maintain a smooth, productive working environment, even as she navigates her own ambiguous feelings about her career path.
