Description
Nekonote is a sixteen-year-old high school girl who works as a remote assistant for the fledgling manga artist Nana Futami. She lives in the Aomori region and originally commutes to work from a distance, but after a conflict with her unsupportive mother she essentially runs away from home and stays at Futami’s house. Nekonote aspires to become a manga artist herself, and her editor is Kaede Satou, the same editor who works with Futami.
Her outward personality is extremely shy and reserved, especially around people she does not know well. She comes across as quiet and awkward in interpersonal situations, and her introversion sometimes makes her seem withdrawn. However, this shyness is largely a surface trait; underneath it she is actually quite active and proactive, and she possesses a sharp, occasionally biting sense of humor that reveals a secretly observant and even slightly critical side. She is genuinely grateful for the opportunity to work with Futami and takes her duties seriously.
Nekonote is noted for her high level of artistic skill and speed. She completes her assistant tasks quickly and with consistent quality, making her a dependable support for Futami, who often struggles with deadlines and self‑doubt. In the story, Nekonote’s role is that of a remote assistant who later becomes a live‑in helper, providing both practical art assistance and a calming presence when the studio becomes hectic. She does not undergo a major dramatic transformation over the course of the series, but she gradually becomes more comfortable expressing herself around the other characters, particularly through her quiet competence and the occasional blunt remark. Her motivation throughout remains her desire to become a professional manga artist, and her relationship with Futami and Satou helps her move toward that goal.
