Description
Ahide Alobo Agatze is a character introduced in the second season of The Misfit of Demon King Academy. He holds the position of a cardinal from the nation of Jiordal and is known as the Oracle, one of the Selected Eight. His physical appearance is distinctive; he is a tall man with an average build, green eyes, and black fingernails. He belongs to the Draconid race, which is evident from his characteristic ears. His hair is primarily green with white ends, styled long enough to cover the right side of his face.

On the surface, Ahide presents himself as a deeply pious man of faith who serves and worships the Almighty Radiance known as Equis. He holds the conviction that the gods are almighty and perfect beings, and he views them as the agents of eventual salvation, believing that everything ultimately traces back to his deity. He finds the concept of anyone, including the demon king Anos Voldigoad, surpassing the power of the gods to be incomprehensible.

However, this devout exterior masks a profoundly corrupt and manipulative nature. In reality, Ahide is a crook who has no hesitation in lying and proclaiming falsehoods as the divine word of god. His true motivation is not loyalty to the divine but a covetous desire for their power. To achieve victory in the Selection Trial, a sacred ritual where eight mortals are judged for the right to become a god, he is willing to sacrifice his own followers, manipulating them into believing they are dying for a noble cause. He is described as irredeemable, as he consistently goes against the wishes of his own god, only to ask for forgiveness afterwards.

In the story, Ahide first makes his presence known by following Anos and his group before introducing himself as one of the Selected Eight. He summons his Selection God, Arcana, to confront the demon king. During this initial encounter, he questions why Anos has not summoned his own Selection God, revealing his deep involvement in the ritual. His broader plan to secure victory involves political manipulation. He successfully converted King Lycius Engelo Gairadite to Jiordal's religion by making false promises of eternal life and power. His schemes included orchestrating the death of the hero Kanon to retrieve the sacred sword Evansmana and feeding the people of Gairadite to dragons to bolster the draconid population.

Key relationships define Ahide's role in the narrative. His bond with his own Selection God, Arcana, is a prime example of his hypocrisy. Arcana is described as a kind goddess who was willing to bet on even the most irredeemable of people, but because she was bound to Ahide by a pact, she was forced to commit harmful acts against her will. Ahide would routinely trample over her feelings for his own gain, then hypocritically ask for her forgiveness to maintain his facade of piety. After his defeat, his true nature is fully revealed when he admits he never trusted the gods and only used Arcana for his own convenience. He also displays a cold and utilitarian attitude toward his allies. He disposed of Gazel Apt Ageila, a fellow citizen of Jiordal, after the holy knight served his purpose. Using a false divine message as an excuse, Ahide stole Gazel's Selection Pledge Jewel and excommunicated him before killing him, showing no true remorse for taking a precious life.

Ahide possesses notable abilities, many of which are derived from his connection to the divine and his preparations for the Selection Trial. To withstand divine possession and obtain the abilities of his Selection God, Arcana, he used the Moon of Creation to reconstruct his body into a Divine Body. This transformation allowed him to gain the goddess's abilities without dying. With this power, he gained a form of immortality through a state of permeance where spells had no effect and he could not be destroyed by conventional means, as well as immense magic power capable of covering the entirety of Gaelahesta with lunar snowdrops. Furthermore, by possessing the Order of Light through Arcana, he was able to move at the speed of light. Despite these formidable powers, his arrogance and corrupt nature ultimately lead to his defeat at the hands of Anos Voldigoad.
