Brent Mukai is a Japanese-American voice actor and improv comedian known for his work in English dubs of anime, video games, and animated series. Born on August 16, 1989, and raised in Pearl City, Hawaii, he moved to the mainland United States in 2007 to pursue acting and writing. He attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he began performing in independent film productions before starting his training in improvisational comedy in 2009. His comedy career led to regular performances at Las Vegas casinos, including the Palms Hotel and Casino and Planet Hollywood, where he was a cast member of the Party Comedy Show and performed stand-up. In 2017, Mukai transitioned to full-time voice acting, working with studios such as Bang Zoom! Entertainment and Funimation. His breakout role came in June 2021 as the voice of Gary in the PlayStation 5 game Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Mukai has built an extensive anime filmography, taking on a wide range of characters. In the series Ranking of Kings, he voices Dorshe, the loyal and towering guardian of Prince Bojji. He portrays the powerful Earl of Warwick in Requiem of the Rose King, a historical drama set during the Wars of the Roses. His role as Ginji in the comedy series Full Dive: This Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier than Real Life! earned him the Society of Voice Arts Award for Outstanding Anime Character – Best Male Voiceover in 2021. He also voiced Gamma in Battle Athletes Victory ReSTART! and took on the role of Allen Kay in the feature film My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission. In the critically acclaimed mystery series ODDTAXI, he voiced Atsuya Baba, a comedic duo partner. Mukai has also appeared in long-running franchises, including One Piece as Scratchmen Apoo, Kingdom as Lord Biao and Lu Buwei, and The Prince of Tennis II Hyotei vs Rikkai Game of Future as Munehiro Kabaji. His other notable roles include Sho Minamimoto in The World Ends with You the Animation, President Goha in Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens, and Shion in ELEMON.

Beyond anime, Mukai has extensive credits in video game voice work. He has provided voices for major titles such as Genshin Impact, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, Like a Dragon Gaiden, and Persona 5 Tactica. His work often involves collaboration with prominent ADR directors and fellow voice actors within the Funimation and Bang Zoom! circles, frequently appearing alongside performers like Caitlin Glass, who directed him in both Ranking of Kings and Requiem of the Rose King. His achievements include the 2021 Society of Voice Arts Award, solidifying his reputation as a versatile and accomplished talent in the voice acting industry.
