Description
Masamichi Nakamura evolves from a high school band drummer alongside Shinnosuke Kanamuro and Akane Aioi to a municipal tourism officer determined to rejuvenate his declining hometown through an annual music festival. After the band’s dissolution and a divorce spurred by his wife’s affair, he raises his son, Masatsugu, alone while channeling unresolved regrets into civic projects. Thirteen years later, he secures enka star Dankichi Nitobe to headline the festival, unaware that Shinnosuke—now Nitobe’s guitarist—will return, reigniting Akane’s dormant affections for her former bandmate. Quietly orchestrating Shinnosuke’s participation to help Akane confront her unresolved emotions, Masamichi grapples with his own unspoken longing for her, hindered by her lingering attachment to Shinnosuke and societal biases against his portly appearance. When the festival’s drummer falls ill, he reluctantly resumes his old role, bridging past passions with present duties. His journey weaves stoic civic commitment with private yearning, balancing single parenthood, faded artistic dreams, and a heart quietly tethered to a love that remains just beyond reach.
