Description
Fudō, also called Fudou or Fudoh, is a major supporting character originating in the manga and anime series *Fist of the North Star*, with an expanded role in the *Shin Kyūseishu Densetsu* film series, including *Yuria Den*. He underwent a transformation from a feared outlaw known as "Fudou the Ogre" into a revered protector. His nihilistic worldview and violent acts stemmed from a childhood devoid of parental love, leading him to believe life held no value. This changed when he encountered Yuria as a young girl, who stood against him to defend a group of puppies. Her courage and compassion revealed to him the value of life and reformed his nature completely.

Following his redemption, Fudō became one of the Nanto Goshasei, the five protectors of the Nanto General, and was tasked specifically with guarding Yuria, the Last Nanto General. He adopted many orphans, offering them the love and protection he never had, and became known as "Fudou of the Mountains" for his gentle, carefree demeanor and steadfast loyalty. His duties involved serving the Nanto leadership and safeguarding the innocent across the post-apocalyptic wasteland.

In combat, Fudō relied on his immense physical size and herculean strength, overwhelming opponents with minimal effort. His techniques included obliterating assailants with gentle hand presses or crushing them through muscle flexing, demonstrating inhuman endurance and power on par with top fighters like Raoh. Despite his reformed demeanor, he could revert to ferocity when necessary, such as when donning his demon armor during intense battles.

His story culminated in a confrontation with Raoh, who sought to conquer his past fear of Fudō. During their fight, Fudō’s love for his children allowed him to instill fear in Raoh, but Raoh’s men intervened and fatally wounded Fudō with arrows against Raoh’s orders. With his dying words, Fudō implied that Raoh’s tyranny would lead to his downfall, leaving a lasting impact on Raoh. Fudō died peacefully, reassured that Yuria and the world would be safe under Kenshiro’s protection.

Fudō’s legacy is defined by his redemption, his role as a guardian of life, and his influence on other characters, emphasizing themes of love and sacrifice.
