Description
Kirishima Miyama is the teenage grandson of the head of the Miyama crime family, a powerful yakuza group based in Tokyo. Though he has the appearance of a polite, charming, and intelligent high school student, this facade conceals a deeply disturbed and violent nature.
Born on November 13, Kirishima was taken in and raised by his great-uncle, Gaku Miyama, the current family patriarch, after his biological parents effectively abandoned him. His childhood was marked by a notable incident in middle school where he severely beat twenty classmates, an event that led to him being sent to live under Gaku’s strict care. Despite this arrangement, his upbringing was characterized by emotional neglect and a need for financial independence, as his great-uncle provided only a basic monthly allowance, forcing Kirishima to learn how to survive on his own.
Beneath his amiable smile lies a true sadomasochist who is bored by normalcy and actively craves chaos, danger, and violence. He is a manipulative and cunning individual who views most people with secret contempt and has little regard for others, hurting people without hesitation. Paradoxically, he also revels in being dominated, seeking out partners who will verbally and physically punish him. This desire for destruction extends to his personal life; he is a self-proclaimed playboy who uses casual sexual relationships to expand his network of contacts and relieve stress, though he maintains no romantic feelings for these women.
His primary motivation becomes an obsessive fixation on his arranged fiancée, Yoshino Somei. The engagement is a political arrangement meant to cement a truce between the Osaka-based Somei family and the Miyama family. Initially disappointed by Yoshino's seemingly reserved demeanor, Kirishima openly insulted her and suggested she would be more useful as a prostitute, hoping to drive her back to Osaka. However, when Yoshino retaliated with unexpected moxie and threats, revealing a fierce and defiant personality, Kirishima became utterly fascinated. From that moment, his goal shifted to winning her over, not for a traditional romance, but to have her "ruin his life" and dominate him.
In the story, Kirishima acts as the chaotic male lead whose volatile behavior drives much of the conflict. His role is defined by his obsessive stalking and protection of Yoshino, going as far as to clone her phone and watch her while she sleeps. Despite his disturbing methods, he becomes her most dangerous ally, willing to kill anyone who threatens her. His relationship with Yoshino is the central axis of the narrative; it evolves from mutual hostility to a complex partnership where she learns to navigate and even take advantage of his psychosis. Key relationships include his rivalry with Yoshino’s childhood friend Shouma Toriashi, whom he views with jealous contempt, and his dynamic with his grandfather Gaku, whose mannerisms he unconsciously mimics and whose approval he seems to seek.
Throughout the series, Kirishima shows signs of subtle development, largely driven by his connection to Yoshino. While he remains a violent and manipulative individual, he begins to experience unfamiliar emotions such as genuine care and jealousy, even admitting that he likes doing mundane tasks with her. His brutal honesty about his dark nature never wavers, but his actions demonstrate a growing, albeit twisted, form of devotion, such as keeping a keychain she made even after discovering it contained a listening device.
Kirishima possesses several notable abilities that make him a formidable figure. He is exceptionally intelligent and academically gifted, yet he chooses to apply his mind to manipulation and strategic scheming, such as orchestrating an affair to blackmail an enemy. He is also a highly skilled fighter, capable of taking on multiple opponents with vicious efficiency. Outside of his life of crime, he has the unexpected domestic skill of being adept at cooking and making sweets.
