Description
Dora, often referred to as Dora-chan, is a Pixie Dragon who becomes the third familiar of the protagonist Tsuyoshi Mukouda. This character is a notable addition to the traveling party, distinguished by a diminutive stature with scales of a reddish-pink color that belie a surprisingly advanced age; Dora is already a mature adult at 116 years old. As a member of a rare dragon species, Dora is not widely known, even among experienced adventurers, and holds the divine blessing of Vahagn, the God of War.
In terms of personality, Dora displays a lively, cheeky, and self-assertive nature, often speaking in a boyish and sassy tone. The character is playful and mischievous, known to enjoy playing pranks, but also shows a clear fondness for Mukouda, having been drawn to the party by the irresistible smell of his cooking, specifically pan-fried dumplings. This food-motivated encounter led directly to the formation of the familiar contract. Despite a friendly attachment to his master, Dora is uneasy around dragon enthusiasts, such as the guildmaster Elland, due to their intense interest in his kind. Dora addresses Mukouda simply as "you" and refers to his fellow party members, the Fenrir Fel and the slime Sui, by their species names rather than personal ones.
Dora's primary motivation for joining Mukouda is the prospect of eating delicious, high-quality food from another world, a desire that aligns perfectly with the group's dynamic. Within the story, Dora takes on a crucial role as a powerful combatant. Although often underestimated due to small size and childlike appearance, the destructive power is significant and respected by the entire party. Dora possesses a wide array of magical abilities, including wind, fire, water, earth, ice, lightning, healing magic, bombardment, and combat reinforcement. Notably, unlike many dragons, Dora cannot perform a traditional breath attack, instead compensating with a unique high-speed, cannonball-style tackle attack wrapped in fire and lightning that is dangerous even to the powerful Fel if taken off guard.
The key relationships in Dora's life revolve around the other members of Mukouda's party. The relationship with Mukouda is one of fondness paired with straightforward frankness, including complaints about the perceived lack of a cool name after being registered as "Dora-chan". With Fel and Sui, Dora shares camaraderie in both battle and everyday life, working together seamlessly as part of an overpowered team. The character undergoes a small but notable development regarding identity. Initially disappointed with the cutesy name "Dora-chan," especially after hearing about Fel's own naming story, Dora eventually learns to accept and find pride in it, leading to personal growth and a stronger bond with the group. An episode review also confirms that Dora, alongside Fel, seems to enjoy fighting to stay active, adding a layer of personal enjoyment to the pragmatic need for combat and hunting. The dynamic with other adventurers is also important; as a monster rather than a human, Dora operates by a different set of rules and has no obligation to help strangers, particularly those who show hostility to the party.
