Description
Clarke is the Crown Prince of the kingdom and the male lead in the romantic comedy. He was betrothed to Leticia Dorman, a duchess, when both were children, an arrangement made when Leticia fell from a tree and landed on top of him. He is a young man with blonde hair cut to his ears and blue eyes, and he is often seen wearing a vest and boots. A notable physical trait is his ahoge, a single strand of hair that sticks up from his head.

In terms of personality, Clarke is characterized by his unwavering determination and persistence. He is completely committed to his engagement with Leticia and refuses to let her go, despite her fervent desire to escape the strict princess lessons and their impending marriage. His pursuit of her is relentless, to the point where his actions can be interpreted as overbearing or possessive, as he follows her when she flees to the countryside, carries her back to the palace, and even has her confined to her room. While his intentions are framed within the context of a romantic comedy where he seeks to win her heart, his methods—such as sleeping in a secret room connected to her chambers and arranging a speedy wedding—demonstrate a single-minded focus that often disregards Leticia’s obvious protests. Despite this, the narrative suggests that Leticia’s resentment is partly due to the restrictive traditions of the kingdom that kept them apart, and that she never truly got to know him.

Clarke’s primary motivation is to secure Leticia as his bride and to make her love him. He is not interested in breaking off their engagement, even going so far as to bring another woman, Brianna, to a royal ball specifically to make Leticia jealous, a plan that backfires spectacularly when Lettie interprets it as her freedom. His central role in the story is as the primary obstacle to Leticia’s goal of freedom, creating the central conflict of the series. He is the one who forcibly brings her back from her country retreat and continually thwarts her escape attempts, driving the plot forward as the determined romantic lead who refuses to give up.

His most significant relationship is, of course, with Leticia. He is her fiancé and the object of her initial aversion. Over time, she begins to develop feelings for him, and their dynamic shifts from a battle of wills to a more mutual, if still complicated, romance. He also has a connection to Brianna, the woman he hired to accompany him to the ball, though she is more of a tool in his scheme than a key relationship. Throughout the story, Clarke develops from a seemingly aloof prince who lets his fiancée believe their engagement is over, to a much more active and emotionally invested suitor who openly pursues her. While he begins as a source of her misery, the story charts his progression as he attempts to understand her and ultimately win her genuine affection, culminating in their eventual marriage. Beyond his royal authority, notable abilities he demonstrates include a knack for strategic planning, as seen in his schemes to reclaim Leticia, and the physical capability to carry her off against her will.
