Description
Akitsu, whose full name is Yutaka Akitsu, is a first-year high school student who attends the same school as the protagonist, Goro. He is established as both Goro's best friend and his troublesome partner in mischief. Described as a natural mood maker, Akitsu brings a sense of lightness and energy to any room he enters. He is a well-rounded individual who excels in sports, is academically bright, and possesses a sharp intellect. He is also noted for his good looks and articulate speech, allowing him to handle most situations with ease, fitting the archetype of a talented and capable person. His appearance includes white hair and orange eyes.

As a God Candidate, Akitsu initially holds a C rank, though this later progresses to the highest rank of AAA. His designated ability is called the Reversible Clock. This power allows him to bring the past into the present, meaning he can manifest past events or objects in the current world. Conversely, it also permits him to send his consciousness into the future, granting him the ability to foresee upcoming events. In practice, this precognitive aspect of his power allows him to see a few seconds into the immediate future during confrontations.

Upon acquiring his power, Akitsu foresaw multiple potential futures, all of which were tragic and ended in disaster. This revelation becomes the core of his motivation and character arc. Overwhelmed by the inevitability of these grim outcomes, he attacked Goro and left him in a critical state. This action was not born of malice but of a desperate, perhaps misguided, attempt to alter the course of fate. However, his ability was nullified by Goro's power, the Fool's Scripture, leading to his own defeat.

In his final moments, Akitsu entrusts Goro with his hope. He asks his best friend to change the terrible future he has witnessed, believing that Goro might succeed where he could not. He then passes away, leaving his wish for a different destiny in Goro's hands. Before this, he fought alongside Goro and Honoka as part of an alliance, using his precognitive abilities to warn them of danger. His role in the story is therefore that of a close confidant whose tragic foresight transforms him from a lighthearted friend into a pivotal figure whose death serves as a catalyst for the protagonist's resolve.
