Description
Mylo Moriarty is the first child and current head of the M. Family, a notorious crime syndicate descended from the original James Moriarty. He is a calm and collected individual with messy blond hair and yellow eyes, and he typically dresses in white suits. Mylo is ruthless and cold, willing to use any means necessary to achieve his goals. He became the leader of the M. Family at the age of seventeen by eliminating his own sister, Alice, whom he considered a weak link.
His primary motivation is to maintain the family's legacy of perfect crime and to prove the superiority of the Moriarty bloodline. Mylo develops a deep obsession with Ron Kamonohashi, who is the son of a Moriarty father and a Holmes mother, making Ron a direct descendant of both rival families. Mylo sees Ron as a personal challenge and a threat to the M. Family's reputation. He repeatedly sets elaborate traps and schemes to discredit or destroy Ron, attempting to force him into a position where he would become a murderer.
Mylo's role in the story is that of the principal antagonist in the first major story arc. He orchestrates several cases that directly involve Ron and his partner Totomaru Isshiki, aiming to break Ron psychologically and prove that the Holmes lineage cannot defeat the Moriarty legacy. He is notably equipped with a sound‑alteration device that shields him from Ron’s involuntary ability, known as “Kill on Sight,” which compels culprits to harm themselves upon hearing Ron’s deductions.
Key relationships include his younger brother Winter Moriarty, who serves as his loyal operative, and his uncle Daniel (also known as Tiger Dan). Mylo also has a twisted connection with his sister Alice, whom he believed he killed. Later, it is revealed that Alice survived and becomes the new head of the M. Family after Mylo’s defeat by Ron. Following a direct confrontation on a cruise ship, Mylo is overpowered by Ron’s deduction, loses his will to fight, and attempts suicide by jumping into the sea. He survives but is subsequently captured by Alice, who imprisons him in the family basement.
Throughout his storyline, Mylo remains a largely static figure in terms of personal change; his core beliefs about power, pure blood, and the family’s superiority do not waver. His defeat marks a shift in the power structure of the M. Family, but his past actions continue to influence the narrative. Notable abilities include his strategic cunning, mastery of criminal planning, and use of technology to neutralize Ron’s hypnosis‑like ability. He is portrayed as a formidable opponent whose crimes, by reputation, are never solved when directly committed by him or his family.
