TV-Series
Description
Namazuo Tōshirō is a wakizashi manifested as a sword warrior, originally forged by the Kamakura-era smith Awataguchi Yoshimitsu. He was once a short naginata before being shortened into a wakizashi. As one of the Toushirō brothers, he shares a particularly close bond with Honebami Toushirō, whom he cares for deeply. His personality is straightforward and forward-looking; he states that he does not dwell on the past and prefers to keep moving ahead. He is strong-willed and does not hesitate to admonish his master if he believes it will prevent harm, such as being burned again—a reference to his historical sword’s fate in a fire. In Touken Ranbu Kai Kyoden, Namazuo serves as a supporting member of the team tasked with protecting history. The story centers on four swordsmen who once served Oda Nobunaga and are sent to the Honnō-ji Incident, but Namazuo is part of the broader cast of sword warriors aiding in the mission. His role primarily involves combat support and providing a steady, reliable presence among his comrades. His abilities as a wakizashi make him agile and quick in battle, suited for close-quarters combat and swift strikes. Over the course of the series, his straightforward nature remains consistent, and his primary motivation is to fulfill his duty as a sword while looking out for those he considers family, especially Honebami.
