TV-Series
Description
Hairo Rich is a young man who first appears in the second season of the narrative. He is a former soldier who served as the head guard of the Bennett Church, a religious organization. Prior to joining the church, he was brought there as a child under the suspicion of being possessed by a demon. His earliest memories involve a traumatic childhood within the church, including having his teeth repeatedly pulled out, which forced him to subsist on a diet of soup and porridge. His foster mother, Tasette, once gave him prosthetic teeth for his birthday, a gift that significantly improved his quality of life.
Hairo possesses a unique and defining trait: a congenital immunity to physical pain. He can feel temperature and touch but does not experience the sensation of pain from injuries. While this makes him a remarkably resilient fighter, it also serves as a significant weakness. As the immortal being Fushi observes, Hairo is more stable than others and can shut out the pain felt by normal people, but this means he may not notice his own wounds or recognize emotional suffering in other people.
In terms of abilities, Hairo is a highly skilled swordsman. His combat proficiency is a result of his long-held aspiration to become a swordsman, a dream he developed from reading about them in a book during his youth, combined with his practical experience serving as a knight for the Bennett Church.
Hairo's role in the story begins when he is recruited by Prince Bonchien into a group of individuals intended to become new vessels for Fushi. This group, which includes Kai and Messar, is assembled to form an immortal army to fight against the Nokkers, the primary antagonists. He willingly offers himself to Fushi's cause, understanding the risks and the potential for an eternal purpose. During a major battle in the city of Renril, Hairo is killed in action against the Nokkers. However, he is later revived and becomes an active member of the Immortal Army, continuing to fight alongside Fushi and his other companions. His key relationships are with his recruiter, Prince Bonchien, and with Fushi, whose cause he chooses to serve as a loyal ally and a new piece on the game board in the fight for survival.
