Description
Padre di Lamù is the father of Lum and the chief of the oni, an alien race of ogre-like beings, in the anime and manga series. He is almost always identified by his family role rather than by name; his personal name is given as Satoshi in some accounts, and English-language materials sometimes call him Mr. Invader. He is a massive, heavyset oni with a fearsome and imposing appearance, and he typically wears a tiger-striped coverall-like outfit. He speaks with a Kansai dialect, which matches his boisterous and demonstrative manner.
As the leader of the oni, he arrives on Earth at the head of an invasion fleet and, instead of conquering by force, proposes a contest: a randomly selected human must touch Lum's horns in a game of tag within a set period to save the planet. When Ataru Moroboshi wins, Lum mistakes his words for a marriage proposal, and her father accepts the outcome, honoring the engagement and thereafter referring to Ataru as his son-in-law.
His personality is loud, intimidating, and at times comically overbearing. He raises his voice constantly and does not seem to realize how frightening others find him, yet he also has a goofy side and struggles with his weight.
