Description
Gram is a legendary figure in the world of Demon Lord 2099, known historically as the hero who defeated the immortal Demon Lord Veltol Velvet Velsvalt nearly five hundred years before the main events of the story. At that time, he led the mortal races in a great war against Veltol's forces and, wielding the holy sword Ixasorde, secured victory for humanity. As a reward for this deed, the goddess Meldia bestowed upon him the blessing of eternal youth, a gift he did not desire and one that would eventually become a source of immense personal suffering.
In the present day of 2099, Gram is a deeply disillusioned individual. The centuries following his victory did not bring the peace he had fought for; instead, humanity descended into relentless internal warfare. Forced to fight and kill his own kind, and eventually hunted by those who feared his extraordinary power, Gram lost all faith in humankind. Consequently, he now lives as a homeless drifter in the lower districts of Shinjuku, a man whose spirit has been worn down by ages of betrayal and violence, carrying an aura of decay and apathy. Despite this profound weariness and disillusionment, Gram never allowed hatred or bitterness to consume his heart, retaining a deep and noble core that sets him apart from many others.
Gram's place in the story is reactivated when he unexpectedly crosses paths with Veltol, who has since been resurrected. Recognizing that the Demon Lord has changed from the tyrant he once defeated, Gram listens to Veltol's plea for help in rescuing Machina Soleige, a loyal follower who has been abducted by the treacherous former dark peer, Marcus. This request marks the beginning of a complex and unexpected alliance between the legendary hero and the former Demon Lord.
The most significant relationship in Gram's life is with Veltol, his former mortal enemy who becomes a crucial ally. Their dynamic is complicated, built on a history of conflict, but evolves into a partnership driven by a common goal. He also has a strained but not hateful relationship with the goddess Meldia, whose unwanted blessing cursed him to live through endless cycles of disappointment. During his mission to save Machina, he confronts Marcus and engages in a fierce duel with Kinohara, Marcus's powerful secretary.
Gram undergoes a notable development when he decides to help Veltol. Initially apathetic and resigned to his life as a vagrant, accepting the request stirs something within him. This internal change manifests dramatically in battle, as his legendary spirit reawakens and his long-rusted holy sword, Ixasorde, suddenly begins to shine once more with its ancient light, symbolizing a recovery of his hope and heroic will. Though he is a legendary hero from a bygone era, the faith and belief that once fueled his power are not a factor in the modern world in the same way as for Veltol. His most notable ability is his immense and legendary combat prowess, which remains formidable centuries later. He is the rightful wielder of the holy sword Ixasorde, the very blade that defeated the Demon Lord, and he retains the blessing of eternal youth granted by the goddess Meldia, which has kept him alive for over five hundred years.
