Description
Ryosuke Endo serves as a key animator at Musashino Animation, supervising episodes three and eight of *Exodus!*. His design philosophy frequently clashes with fellow animator Misato Segawa, resulting in a strained dynamic where he deflects her critiques. The production of *Exodus!* episode eight sparks a heated clash with 3D director Yuichiro Shimoyanagi when Shimoyanagi replaces Endo's planned hand-drawn explosion sequence with 3D CGI without consultation. Feeling traditional animation is being sidelined, Endo quits Musashino Animation.
Following his departure, Endo sinks into deep depression, worsened by the cancellation of *Time Hippopotamus*. His wife, Mayumi Endo, whom he has known since high school and deeply values, provides steadfast emotional support, helping him gradually rediscover his passion for animation.
To mend the conflict, production assistant Aoi Miyamori learns from Segawa that the classic anime *Idepon* originally inspired Endo. Miyamori invites him to an *Idepon* exhibition where he unexpectedly meets Shimoyanagi. Discovering their shared admiration for *Idepon* facilitates reconciliation. Endo returns to Musashino Animation and completes the key animation for the *Exodus!* episode eight explosion. This experience shifts his perspective on 3D animation; he expresses interest in learning the techniques and offers to critique Shimoyanagi’s CGI work from his key animator viewpoint.
Four years after the *Exodus!* production, during work on the film *Aerial Assault Ship SIVA*, Endo is fully reintegrated at the studio. He maintains his marriage to Mayumi, whose encouragement continues to bolster his career. While specific new projects aren't detailed, he remains an active team member, having moved past his prior resistance to evolving industry methods.
