Description
Geese Nukadia is a character first introduced as a helpful and seemingly simple adventurer, but his role in the story runs much deeper. He is the last known survivor of the Nuka tribe, a race of magical beings with monkey-like characteristics. His distinctive face, often described as simian, is framed by long sideburns, and he typically wears dark, practical adventurer's clothing with leather protectors on his joints. This practical appearance reflects his role as a non-combatant specialist who supports adventuring parties from the background.

On the surface, Geese projects the persona of a cheerful, laid-back, and welcoming man. He is sociable, a skilled flatterer, and often uses humor to lighten tense situations. He is also known for his love of gambling and a deep-seated belief in personal superstitions, which he calls his jinxes. These rules, born from past negative experiences, guide many of his actions, such as his refusal to ever teach cooking to anyone again and an aversion to forming groups of four people. Beneath this easy-going exterior, however, lies a much more complex and darker personality. Geese is fundamentally cunning, manipulative, and exceptionally adaptable. He is capable of great deception, using his charming demeanor as a mask for his true intentions. Despite his positive front, he is described as carrying a profound sense of weariness and disillusionment, a result of a life heavily manipulated by unseen forces.

Geese's background as an adventurer is notable. He was a key member of the renowned S-rank party known as the Fangs of the Black Wolf, which included Rudeus's parents, Paul and Zenith Greyrat, as well as Ghislaine Dedoldia, Elinalise Dragonroad, and Talhand. In this party, Geese was the indispensable jack of all trades. While he cannot use swords or magic and has virtually no combat ability, he excels at every other aspect of adventuring. His skills include trap detection and disarming, information gathering, mapping, supply management, negotiation, and camp cooking. His culinary skills were particularly valued, and it was he who taught Zenith how to cook, a skill she used to win Paul's heart. After the party disbanded following Paul and Zenith's marriage, Geese found it difficult to survive as a solo adventurer due to his lack of combat skills, eventually turning to a life as a professional gambler.

Geese's motivations and his role in the main story are defined by his secret servitude to Hitogami, the Man God. As an apostle of Hitogami, many of his seemingly coincidental and helpful actions were in fact carefully orchestrated. Following the Fittoa Region Teleportation Incident, Geese was active in the search for Paul's missing family. He deliberately orchestrated his imprisonment in the same cell as Rudeus in the Great Forest to engineer a reunion. Later, he used his knowledge, which was actually provided by Hitogami, to help locate Zenith Greyrat. He also played a crucial role as a mediator, helping to reconcile the strained relationship between Rudeus and his father, Paul. All of this assistance was part of Hitogami's long-term scheme.

Geese's key relationships are complex and laced with tragedy. He was a loyal comrade to his former party members, particularly Paul, whom he never spoke ill of and considered a true partner. He shared a party dynamic with Ghislaine, who was exceptional in combat but utterly helpless in everyday tasks, highlighting Geese's opposite role. He showed a more mature and reserved side when interacting with Rudeus, often acting as a supportive senior figure. However, this relationship was built on a foundation of manipulation. Despite being manipulated by Hitogami, who even orchestrated the destruction of Geese's own tribe, Geese felt a twisted sense of debt and gratitude for the times Hitogami's advice saved his life. He followed Hitogami's commands not out of true loyalty, but out of a belief that compliance was his only path to survival.

Ultimately, Geese's development leads to his revelation as a tragic antagonist. He confessed his true nature in a letter to Rudeus, declaring himself as Hitogami's apostle. Given a final mission to eliminate Rudeus and Orsted, Geese used his strategic mind to assemble a coalition of immensely powerful fighters, including figures like the Demon King Badigadi. However, his coalition was held together by no common purpose and ultimately collapsed. In the final confrontation, Geese was mortally wounded by Rudeus's fire magic. His death was a tragic end for a resourceful and skilled individual who was ultimately unable to break free from the cycle of manipulation and his own vulnerabilities, making him a pawn whose actions drove critical developments in the story.
