Description
Abiko Samejima is the 22-year-old manga author of the popular series Tokyo Blade. She has a youthful appearance with short, messy dark purple hair and dark purple eyes. Her typical attire is casual and practical, such as overalls worn over a dark dress, though she has also been seen wearing a coat and skirt. Shy and introverted by nature, she rarely speaks with colleagues and struggles to make eye contact. Beneath this quiet exterior, she is an affectionate and sweet person who becomes intensely passionate when the topic turns to manga. The immense success of Tokyo Blade caused her to develop a large ego and an inflated sense of her own infallibility. She frequently clashes with her editors, uses her busy schedule as an excuse for difficult behavior, and has driven away assistants by harshly criticizing their work, preferring to exhaust herself rather than compromise on her artistic vision, ultimately sacrificing her health and well-being. Her primary motivation is a fierce dedication to protecting the integrity of her work, rooted in her negative feelings toward the live-action adaptation of Sweet Today. When Tokyo Blade is adapted into a stage play, she visits the rehearsal and, despite praising the cast's talent, demands a complete overhaul of the script, threatening to cancel the production and have the scriptwriter fired if her demands are not met. Her most significant relationship is with her former mentor, Yoriko Kichijouji, who sees past Abiko’s abrasive ego to the vulnerable person underneath and confronts her about her toxic work ethic and communication issues. Through Yoriko’s intervention, Abiko begins a collaborative relationship with the scriptwriter Goa. Their collaboration starts with hostility, but after being forced to work together directly, they create a script that Abiko genuinely loves, teaching her the value of creative partnership. Throughout this process, Abiko learns to collaborate and communicate, dismantling the defensive ego that fame had built around her. Her notable abilities are her high-caliber writing and artistic skills, as well as her deep understanding of her own characters and story.
