Description
The Servant summoned as Berserker in the False Holy Grail War of Snowfield is a unique existence whose True Name is Jack the Ripper. However, this entity is not the spirit of a specific historical individual. Rather, it is the embodiment of the mystery, fear, and countless theories surrounding the infamous, unidentified serial killer. Because the real Jack the Ripper was never caught or identified, this Servant has no fixed form or true self, existing instead as an emblem of madness given form. The catalyst used for the summoning was a replica knife, a mass-produced item that ironically aligned perfectly with the ambiguous nature of a killer whose identity is a collection of fakes and speculation.

Despite being summoned in the Berserker class, which traditionally robs a Servant of reason in exchange for power, this Jack the Ripper is completely sane and rational. The Mad Enhancement skill is paradoxically sealed due to his fundamental nature as a symbol of madness, creating a situation where a negative multiplied by a negative results in a positive. As a result, he possesses a calm, serious, and often poetic manner of speaking, frequently acting as a voice of reason to counter the eccentricities of his Master. His personality is that of a sage-like figure, showing respect for true heroes and a deep, contemplative understanding of his own tragic existence. His wish upon the Holy Grail is not for power or destruction, but for self-discovery: he seeks to learn his true identity, to know definitively who or what Jack the Ripper really was.

In the story, Berserker is summoned inadvertently by his Master, Flat Escardos, a magical genius from the Clock Tower who is as unpredictable as he is talented. Their relationship is one of the most unusual in the war, with Flat treating the legendary serial killer more like a fascinating friend than a weapon. Berserker often transforms into a steampunk-style wristwatch to accompany his Master discreetly. He becomes a key player in the chaotic events of the war, using his infiltration abilities to investigate other participants. He forms a temporary and pragmatic agreement with Orlando Reeve, the police chief overseeing the war, to rescue a young girl, Tsubaki Kuruoka, who is being used as a Master by another Servant. His role often involves trying to steer his well-meaning but reckless Master away from danger while pursuing his own goals.

Berserker possesses a set of abilities perfectly suited for assassination and espionage, reflecting the many theories about his true nature. His primary personal skill is Thousand Faces, which allows him to transform into any profession, animal, or object that has ever been theorized as the true identity of Jack the Ripper. This includes turning into a police officer, a doctor, a prostitute, or even an inanimate object like a watch. When transformed, he can use the skills of that form at a reduced rank, allowing him to blend in perfectly or acquire necessary tools. Another skill, Walker of Foggy Nights, grants him a high-rank Presence Concealment ability, but only during the darkness of night, evoking the atmospheric conditions of the original Whitechapel murders.

His Noble Phantasms are also based on conflicting theories of the case. From Hell, ranked A+ to E-, is based on the theory that Jack the Ripper was a demon. It allows him to transform into a powerful demonic creature whose strength is directly proportional to the population density within a five-kilometer radius. In a desolate area, he is only as strong as a large beast, but in a city, his power rivals that of a martial Servant, and he gains a special advantage against human opponents. His other Noble Phantasm, Natural Born Killers, is based on the theory that the murders were committed by a group rather than an individual. This ability allows him to create multiple clones of himself, with the number limited only by his Master's magical energy. The last remaining clone automatically becomes the true body, making him incredibly difficult to permanently destroy. In a significant battle, he combined these abilities, creating over two hundred demonic clones to overwhelm a powerful opponent before a stroke of fate turned the tide against him.
