Description
Asumi Nishiki is a main heroine and a student at the same school as the protagonist, Tomohiro Izumi, where she is his junior. She is a girl with a gentle and pure appearance, which has led many of her peers to think of her as an "angel". Behind this quiet exterior, however, she lives a double life as Yukikage Shiki, a very popular and rapidly rising VTuber known for her exceptional singing talent and creative musical output. Her birthday is December 1.

Asumi's personality is a blend of gentle timidity and unexpected inner strength. On the surface, she is reserved, soft-spoken, and kind to others, often coming across as delicate and in need of protection. However, underneath this fragile exterior lies a firm will and an unwavering dedication to the things she truly wants to do. She can be surprisingly independent and stubborn, choosing her own path even when it goes against the expectations of others or the challenges of her own upbringing. A defining aspect of her character is her difficulty interacting with men. Due to painful experiences in her past, she feels uncomfortable and anxious around boys and struggles to handle any kind of suggestive or intimate situation. She only feels at ease with those who do not make her feel threatened, a quality she initially finds in Tomohiro.

Her background is deeply rooted in music, but also in trauma and isolation. Asumi was born into a prestigious and highly accomplished musical family; her father is a world-renowned pianist and her mother is a composer who scores music for Hollywood films. Growing up under great expectations, she attended the elite Sakyo Music Academy and dreamed of becoming a singer from a young age. However, she suddenly began to lose her voice, an event that caused her immense insecurity and tension with her family. Ignoring doctors' warnings, she continued to sing, which further damaged her vocal cords. This forced her to withdraw from the music academy. The situation worsened when she transferred to a new school. During a choir practice, male classmates laughed at her singing, an incident that cemented her strong aversion to interacting with boys. As a result, she became a reclusive student who rarely attended school, eventually leaving her parents' home to live independently under the care of her grandfather.

Asumi's role in the story is centered on her journey to overcome her personal struggles and reconnect with the world. She serves as the Student Council Secretary after being invited by Tomohiro Izumi. Her relationship with Tomohiro is the primary catalyst for her development. A pivotal moment occurs when she leaves her house to buy a meat bun, her favorite food, at a convenience store and happens to meet him. She is immediately struck by how comfortable she feels around him, noting that she does not sense any ulterior motives or impropriety from him, which is a rare feeling for her. This sense of safety allows her to grow attached to him and trust him. Encouraged by this new connection, she accepts his invitation to join the student council, which becomes the first step in her gradual return to regular school life.

Her secret life as the VTuber Yukikage Shiki is a major part of her identity and her method of self-expression. In this role, she is known for her pure persona, impressive vocal abilities, and has been recognized as one of the Four Heavenly Kings of VTuber Singers. Her online channel has amassed over 250,000 subscribers, and her social media following exceeds 200,000. Before her VTuber career, she worked as a Vocaloid producer under the name miasuP, creating internationally recognized hit songs like white tip. She continues to release original music as a VTuber, including tracks such as Kazabana Musume and Little Silent Snow. Her online success provides her with an outlet for her musical passion that bypasses the anxieties of face-to-face interaction.

Asumi possesses notable abilities, chief among them being her extraordinary singing voice, which is both powerful and delicate, and her talent for composing music. She also has a more unexpected skill: she is very good at giving massages. Her character development throughout the story involves battling her deep-seated fears and the trauma associated with her voice. Through her VTuber career, her growing bond with Tomohiro, and her renewed commitment to attending school as part of the student council, she gradually builds her self-confidence and rediscovers her love for singing and performing. Beyond Tomohiro, she is noted to be a passionate fan of the novelist Shion Hoshi and owns several of their books. Her relationship with her parents remains strained due to her struggles and her fierce independence, but she finds a new kind of family and support system in the friends she makes at school.
